James had finally gotten tired of him, like he knew he would. It was only a matter of time before he left too, just like everyone else left. Only a matter of time before even his best friend left as well. Aleks knew it would happen eventually, it always did and it never seemed to stop. An endless cycle of forgetting and leaving; it seemed to be the only thing that he was good at. He should’ve known that those fights would turn into something more, that the anger James expressed toward him now was no longer playful. But yet, Aleks never saw it coming and he never saw the message until the very last second. They were done and James wanted nothing more to do with him.
Maybe that was why he sat in complete silence when Eddie asked him to play Mario Kart or maybe that was why he didn’t say anything when he asked what was wrong. Or even more so why he just stood up and walked away, letting the controller fall to the floor. He couldn’t take his own thoughts, they only replayed the text message over and over again. He couldn’t stand to see himself in the mirror when he walked by, knowing how dead his eyes had to be right then. Aleks wondered how Eddie didn’t see it, how he didn’t say anything — how he just kept on with his game and let him walk away. So maybes ran through his mind and so much pain came with the thoughts that were beginning to eat him away.
He never saw it coming. He never would have believed that this would’ve happened to them — not when they were so happy just a week ago and completely ripped apart now. The teasing had gone sour and turned into true anger and evolved even further to this point. Aleks just wished he would have said goodbye to him in person, that James would’ve had the guts to finish him off face to face. But no, that never happened and he had been left dry with a text message and a broken heart. Aleks lay there, staring up at the ceiling, not ready to face reality, not ready to think of anything but this. How could he with it so fresh in his mind and with how fresh the scars were? It would be the only thing o his mind for days now, days that he didn’t want to happen like this.
He only prepared himself for the worst when he thought the worst was yet to come but it already had and he felt unprepared, more so than usual with life and the events that came from such. It didn’t take him long before he found himself grabbing his phone and putting headphones on to drown the sound of himself and his thoughts out, to get rid of the demons that surfaced from the depths of hell. He just needed some time to think and time to be alone, but he knew that he may never have it. Not when he saw Eddie peek into his room, an eyebrow raised, coffee and muffins in his hands. His smile still remained so cheerful and happy even though he knew his friend were in pain.
With a loud sigh, Aleks took his headphones out and looked at Eddie, expecting him to realize that he could come further. When he didn’t, he waved him in and the cheery Latino bounced in, handing a cup to Aleks and letting him take his pick of the muffins. Normally, he wasn’t much one for chocolate but the Russian needed a bit of it to keep him a bit more calm. “This is why you’re the best.” Aleks murmured, winking at the other as he sat up and began sipping on the warm coffee. He hadn’t expected him to make it just the way he adored it but somehow, Eddie had and he couldn’t seem to put the warm mug down, not even for the first “real” food he’d had in days.
"Hey." Eddie began, taking a bite from his muffin. "You aren’t alone, you know? You don’t ever have to feel like it." He added, nudging Aleks in the side softly. "I’m here, Kevin’s here, but mostly me, because you know…" He trailed off, leaning over and kissing Aleks on the cheek before standing up and walking away. Aleks sat there, confused and unsure of what to do. Did he follow and try to figure out what he meant or did he remain here, left unsure of himself and his own feelings due to his recent break-up? He took another moment to decide before standing and following Eddie out the door and to his room, knocking once before entering without permission.
"We need to talk and you know it." He whispered, wiping at his face and giving Puppy Chef a pat on the head.
