She didn't know how much longer she could handle the darkness. It was suffocating, swallowing up everything. She wanted light, something to chase away the never ending dark. She tried to reach out and feel the area around herself but her hands were bound by a thick, rough rope that dug into the skin of her wrists, no doubt leaving bruises behind. She could barely feel her legs, which were numb and useless twisted underneath her body. She felt a hard, cold metal between her shoulder blades, and came to the conclusion that she was tied up to a pole. Her breaths struck at the deafening silence and her heart pounded in her ears. She felt it now, fear.
