~LET THE CANCER BEGIN~
Sadness washed over me as I plopped the last box down onto the backseat of my little beat up car. Today was the dreaded day. College moving day. The day when I would have to start over and leave all of my friends and family behind for 3+ years. Leaving everyone I knew scared the shit out of me.
The city I was moving to? Brooklyn, New York, which is over 2,700 miles away from the cozy home I lived in with my mom, dad, and 2 younger brothers.
~
I closed the car door and my two little brothers ran up and clung tightly to both of my legs. I laughed, briefly forgetting about moving. I walked stifflegedly over to my parents with the restriction of my brothers on my legs. My poor mom didn't even bother to hide her crying and my dad, well he looked to be on the verge of crying.
"We'll miss you so much, honey." Mom said through sobs.
"I'll be back in only three years, Mom." I said, looking into her teary eyes.
I pulled my whole family into a hug. After a while, I pried my brothers off my legs and got into my car. I took one last look at everything. When a familiar lump started to form in my throat, I forced a smile and waved as I drove off. I broke down crying as soon as I was sure my family wouldn't see me.
So, here began my two day trip into the unknown.
~Two Day time skip~
Time: 3 A.M.
"Shit!" I slammed on brakes, almost missing my turn. A car from behind me blared it's horn. I quickly turned into the apartment's parking lot. I got a spot closest to my apartment as I could find. I got out and grabbed a smaller box and a few bags from the passengers seat. Navigating my way through the darkness, I found my way to the door. I was Balancing the box on one hand while the other fiddled with the keys. Just as the door opened the box fell and made a loud crash. I picked it up hurriedly and put my bags and the box in the house hoping the neighbors didn't hear.
Just as I was going back to my car to get more stuff, a man emerged from the door across from mine. My face grew hot with blush. He gave me a look that just said 'what the hell?'. "Fuck! My first day in New York, and I pissed off my neighbor!" I scolded myself in my head.
"I'm so sorry I woke you up! It won't happen again!" I told the stranger. "I'm such a-"
"Dude, it's fine." He cut in.
Now that I got a second look at the guy. Damn. I had to give it to him, he was actually pretty cute.
"Umm. So, do you want me to help you with anything?" The guy asked.
"If- if you want to. Thanks."
-Mini time skip- He helped unpack- Time about 4 A.M. -
"Thanks. Hey, I never got your name."
"Well I'm George. Just call me Joji."
"I'm _____" I extended my hand. Which Joji gladly shook.
"Do you want to come have lunch at my place tomorrow?" Joji asked.
"Yeah, Sure."
I went inside and fixed up my new place. The more I unpacked my stuff, the more homesick I grew.
