~This is so much f-ing cancer I can feel the tumors growing on my back~

Contains a tiny Star Wars The Force Awakens Spoiler

I laid down in bed around 4:00 A.M. The move tired me out beyond belief, it felt good to finally lay in a proper bed. All I could think about was my family. This was the first time I had left home for such a large amount of time. I tried desperately to focus on something else before the familiar dark cloud of sadness would settle over and cost yet another night of sleep. The sounds of my new city flooded my mind. They were loud enough to hear yet quiet enough to lull me to sleep. So soothing. I drifted into a deep welcoming sleep.

I awoke to the smell of bacon and the sounds of my two brothers fussing. When my eyes opened I realized where I was. Home. I climbed out of bed and put on my school clothes then went down stairs into the busy kitchen.

"Hey, honey. Could you set the table?" Before I could answer my mom already handed me a few plates and silver wear sets.

Mom deposited the plates of food on the table. When we all sat down, the middle of the table was adorned with plates piled high with Bacon, eggs, fruit, sausages and pancakes. All my favorites. Everyone dug. The flavors of all the foods were so crisp and rich with flavor. I finished and brushed my teeth. I grabbed my backpack, said goodbyes and headed to the car. I got in and drove off to school. When I came to a stop light I lost control. The car wouldn't stop or steer. I turned the steering wheel, nothing. I put my foot on the brake pedal. Still nothing. I started panicking and trying the doors. They wouldn't open. I started to scream. When I got to the middle of the intersection a car got about an inch away from me before I was jerked awake. I was panting and drenched in cold sweat. The clock on the nightstand read 10:05. After a while of trying to forget my dream I remembered my lunch with the new neighbor.

I got up and took a much needed long hot shower, brushed my teeth and put on some mascara. I looked through my closet for something casual yet nice. I picked out a black tee shirt with Darth Vader on it with some darker skinny jeans. By the time I got to my door my phone clock read exactly 12:00. I slipped into my sneakers and walked to Joji's door. Which was about 15 feet from mine.

I knocked.

I heard a few footsteps before the door swung open. Joji had on a wrinkly dress shirt and dirty glasses.

"Shit.  I wasn't expecting you to come so soon.... uhh come in. Just give me a minute. I've gotta go and change."

"Ok." I said as I walked in. He closed the door and disappeared into the hallway.

Joji's apartment smelled like Ramen, cologne and a dash of burnt food with some cigarette smoke. I wandered around a bit, staying in the living room, until Joji came out. Instead of his dress shirt he had on a black shirt with some weird Japanese characters on it.

"Sorry about that. I was... doing a thing for YouTube."

"It's cool" I replied.

"So what do you want to do for lunch?" I asked.

"I could either cook something or we could go out to eat."

"Cook me something." I told him.

"What do you want?" Joji asked.

"Surprise me."

With that he whisked into the kitchen. I heard some clanking of pots, then the rush of water from a faucet.

"It'll be ready in 15 or 30!"

~Approximate 20 min time skip~

After a while of playing with my phone I looked up and saw Joji come out of the kitchen carrying two bowls. In them I could see a pair of chopsticks on the rims of each them. He gingerly set one in front of me, and one where he would sit.
