I wake up to the feeling of something sticky being slammed into my face. I peel off the smashed piece of chocolate cake that my twin brother Ryder just threw on me.
"Happy Aptitude Test Day, Meg!" He yelled in my ear.
"Ugh, gross! Get out of my room!" I say, wiping all the frosting on my hand and then smudging it all over his clothes. He grins and runs out of my room. I walk into the bathroom to wash the cake off my face and get ready for my last day of school at The Upper Levels building. The day I take my Aptitude Test. A lot of other people are nervous to take the test. I'm not at all. I know for sure that it will tell me I'm Dauntless. I've been ready to be a full member of Dauntless my whole life. I just know that I'm meant for it. I grab a washcloth and rub all the frosting and cake crumbs off my face. I let my long, mahogany brown hair spill down around my shoulders. I stare at my crystal blue eyes in the mirror and decide to put on some eyeliner and mascara. I put on black jeans, a black tank top, and my combat boots. Finally, I decide that I'm ready. I walk confidently into the living room of our apartment in the Dauntless compound, where Ryder is waiting for me.
"Come on, we're gonna miss the train!" He says urgently.
"I'm coming, I'm coming." I swing my bag over my shoulder.
"Bye Mom, Bye Dad!" Ryder and I yell and slam the door behind us.
