I woke up to the sun peaking through my curtains, right now didn't feel like I was in prison or in a horrible place. It felt like just another day, I didn't feel lost or confused I felt like on my way coming here I felt like I finally found my place. I didn't have to dread anything anymore and for the first time in forever I actually felt excited about riding again.
I brought Max in, groomed and tacked him up. Dad was waiting in the arena out back. Ever since I saw Max I knew that he needed someone to love him like his previous owner and right now, I need that same love too. We started off slow then gradually got faster, and I could feel him relaxing as I rode. Dad said that we make a really great team and that we should think about competing one day.
From that day forward I worked with him everyday that summer and every afternoon during the school year and are our bond got stronger and stronger every time I went to see him, and by the next summer we won the whole competition in our area with my dad by my side though it all, I never even thought of getting back on a horse again let alone competing, but with the help of a great horse and a great dad anything is possible. It just goes to show that you can never give up even when you feel like the world's going to end tomorrow.
