Girls were flocked in their hundreds around me and I was in the spotlight. I had just lead our entire football team into Championship Finals and as I told them how it felt single-handedly shoving past the opposing team of bears, their lipglossed mouths hung in awe, each one of them twirling a strand of their glossy hair vigurously. Every word which fell from my mouth made their knees weak, and another part of them too, I was sure.
"Oh my gosh, that is like so cool, Ty!"
"Like, yeah, you're so talented!"
"I just wish every guy was like you!"
These were just some of the sentences girls would pour at me, filling my ego to the brim. I was popular, nobody could deny that. Being the jock with a high gpa of 4.0, I was unstoppable. My life was pretty busy; it wasn't much of a doddle juggling my school life with my sports, but the hardest part of the day came down to which girl I'd be spending my time with. The challenge wasn't chasing; it was choosing.
Declaring the end of lunch, the school bell rang and an echo of disappointed 'aws' roamed around the cafeteria, which obviously plastered a smug grin upon my face. Making my way past the huddle of girls, feeling like a mini celebrity, I finally made it to my next class: Calculas. My eyes darted to my seat, which I made my way to. My eyes moved to alongside my desk and that's when I caught a glimpse of a pair of eyes so blue, they'd make the Atlantic jealous.
"Hey there." I greeted my next little target.
Her lips of pure pink took the shape of an inviting smile, revealing a set of pearly white teeth. Her arm reached out to me to which I took into mine and shook softly, stubborn to let it go when she retreated it.
"You're the one responsible for sending our team to the finals, am I right?" She questioned, a supplement of confidence marking her words.
She's not like the others, I thought quickly. For one, she didn't repeat the word 'like' and 'soo' as if they were the only words in her vocabulary. And then, I tried figuring out why I had never made a move on her before. It was definite that she wasn't new, I had come across her in Calculas a few times prior to this, but that was a couple of years ago. Taking up her entire appearance in one single go, the reason why I hadn't recognised her suddenly hit me, she was never a redhead.
"You decided to come back?" I smiled, ignoring her question but it wasn't as if she would mind, wasn't the answer obvious?
Taking a hand full of hair of fire, she removed it from her face which gave me an even clearer view of her, and that's exactly when her blushed cheeks full of light freckles stood out the most. She should definitely let that fringe grow, I thought, it didn't do any good hiding her cute face.
"Yeah, I'd rather go to school than be at the hospital." She sighed, a sincere smile meeting mine.
Automatically, I gave her my apology, and she shook her head, telling me that it wasn't my fault.
"I just got seriously ill." She replied when I asked her what had happened, and obviously she wouldn't tell me the entire story.
Forcing my ankles to bear the weight of me, I crouched down and placed my chin in my crossed arms which lay on her desk. I felt some sort of sympathy for this girl, and that was exactly why I wanted to take her home tonight and cuddle in my arms. And by cuddle in my arms, I really hope you know what I actually meant. But the daydream of all the things I'd do to her was quickly terminated. The door suddenly opened and in rushed Mr Waters who had ran to here from across the school. I could tell by the rate he was sweating, and I should've really placed a bucket underneath his chin; our school's plants were getting a little dry this summer.
After giving us his apologies, followed by a long list of excuses, he finally took a marker and wrote on the whiteboard, "Semester 1 - Calculas A." The class were told to write this down before he explained what we would be doing during this term. I tried to listen, but all that filled my thoughts were thoughts of her.
Her body was in a tight, short dress which showed off her best asset, and if you'd like to know what that was, read the first 3 letters of asset. She must've truly bumped her head pretty hard, therefore ending up in hospital and also adopting this sexy sort of style. She was just a row infront of me, and at times, she would glance back, her eyes of deep blue meeting mine to which I'd then wink at, making her smile even more.
The class was finished before Mr Waters was even able to finish explaining, and as soon as the school bell rung, the girl ran out of the classroom, and I quickly went after her, grabbing my backpack swiftly. Searching for her in the hall of students which had quickly flocked in, my eyes quickly set on a head of red, but eventually, she got away from me. I sighed.
I had to endure one more hour of school before I was set free, and there was no football practise, so my day was pretty much open, and I wanted to spend it with her, but there was only one class which I shared with her and that was Calculas. Walking my way through the hall where girls were leaning against their lockers, their hands clutching their chests, I wasn't bothered to reward them with a wink. However, nobody was able to read my mind yet, so a girl with platinum blonde hair made her way to me, giving me the cheesiest smile she could bear. Her face, which imitated a ripe orange, beamed at me.
"Hey Ty!" She squealed, and after realising how high pitched her voice was, she silently coughed.
"I was just wondering if you'd like to hang out after school," she suggested, hugging her textbooks to her chest. "You know, we could do stuff."
If it were any other time, I would've sprung at the idea but I found no interest in lying to her.
"Look here," I said firmly. "I'm Tyler McMiller and you know that but even if we spend the night together, I won't remember your name, and things won't dramatically and romantically change between you and I. Ever." Honesty dripping from each word, I looked at her, waiting for her response.
Her smile drastically dropped. I expected that. She didn't dare meet my gaze. I expected that. In embarrassment, she shoved her way past me. I also expected that.
"The egotistic player finally rejects the squealing fan girl?" Said a voice behind me much to my surprise. "What has the world come to?"
In one quick motion, I turned around and I was confronted by the red haired girl. Now that, I wasn't expecting.
