Ajax woke up feeling refreshed after a long sleep. He looked around the room trying to find a closet that hopefully had a change of clothes. He didn't want to wear one outfit his whole time here. Ajax walked into the closet, and noticed several different outfits laid out for him. He picked a simple and practical outfit, opting to go for woolen trousers and white overshirt.
He walked out of his room, and went left like Walton told him, and walked for a few minutes before finding the room. He walked in and noticed he was the only one in besides Christina, so he sat down beside her after he grabbed a small breakfast plate.
"How did you sleep?" Ajax asked her.
"Absolutely amazing. It felt so nice to sleep on an actual bed for once." Christina told him.
"Definitely. I was asleep almost immediately. No dreams, nothing. It was great."
Christina laughed. "I wonder where the others are."
"Eh, I don't mind. I'm enjoying just talking to you. How was your training yesterday?"
"Training? Zaiden didn't let me train yesterday. He just told me about the history of the Council, and Khamen. It was very fascinating."
"I agree. Ash told me about it when I couldn't sleep on the way here. I was amazed."
Sylvia skipped in, looking very happy. "Hi guys. How are you? I'm awesome." She asked them. Ajax and Christina looked over at each other, and were very confused. This was not the same shy Sylvia as before.
"I'm good. Why are you so happy for?" Christina asked her.
"Malikai is awesome, that's why. This whole place is awesome. I'm so excited to start training today."
Ajax was confused. Was he the only one that actually trained for a little yesterday? It seemed that way. He wondered why that was. Oh well. Nothing he can do about it until he sees Walton again.
As he was thinking, he didn't even realize that Elise and Jackson had walked into the room, and got their breakfast. They ate in silence with not much to say. The Council materialised into the room, startling the kids.
"Oh my goodness. Way to startle us all. Maybe a subtler entrance next time?" Ajax asked.
"Where is the fun in that my boy?" Walton asked him.
"I guess you're right. Can't be mad for a harmless prank. But you said be here at 8 o'clock. You're late."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. We overslept. We can do that. We're the Council."
"Okay, Mr. Pompous."
The Council sat across from them as they ate. Walton started to look nervous, and the others looked expectant, as if waiting for him to say something.
"Okay, what's wrong?" Ajax asked them.
"Ahem. What are you talking about?" Walton asks him.
"Come on. I'm not stupid. I can tell you're nervous. What's wrong?"
"Khamen has told us Merkantan has gathered more power than we thought. We will have to send you out by the end of the week, if we have any hope of keeping him from getting out of his cage."
"There is no possible way we will be ready. You can't be serious."
"We would never lie to you Ajax. We don't want to betray your trust."
"I just don't see how we will be ready. We just got here."
"We will make sure you will be as ready as you can be Ajax. Do not worry."
"I'm going to the training room now. I refuse to die out there."
"I will meet you there when I finish breakfast."
Ajax stood up, putting his dishes in the sink. He walked out of the room, and Christina tried to catch up with him.
"So what are we going to do? I mean it's clear we can't beat this thing." Christina asked when she finally caught up to him.
"I'm going to train as hard as I can in these next five days, so I can be as ready as possible to face this thing." Ajax told her, with a serious face.
"Ajax, come back. We have gifts we need to give you. It is vital that you receive them." Ajax was bewildered to hear Walton speak in his head.
"How are you speaking in my head?" Ajax asked.
"Ajax, are you okay? I thought you were going to go train." Christina asked him.
Hearing no reply from Walton, he replied to Christina. "We need to go back for a second. They have a gift for us I guess."
Ajax seen that Christina was confused, but so was he. He didn't have an answer if she decided to ask him a question. Ajax wondered what kind of gifts the Council had. Why were they being given gifts? Would they be helpful? He had no clue, but he was ready to get it over with. He needed to train if any of them were to survive past this week.
