There is going to be an author's note at the end that explains some things, so if you care about my life and why there are slow updates, read til the very end. If you just care for the story (which is totally fine), you can just skip the end.

And just so you know, these two point of views happen on different days. Liam's is the day before Aurora's. Anyways, enjoy (:

Liam’s POV

Even after returning home and receiving big hugs and wide smiles, I still didn’t feel completely happy. I do not want you to think that I wasn’t happy to see my family and my hometown, because I was. I just wish there was a certain special someone there to welcome me as well.

But I was aware she would not be there, she never was when I returned home. I understood her reasoning for not making an appearance, but I still hoped that one day she would show up, and everything would return to how it was before.

And that was a delusional dream I was living because even if she were there for me, our lives would never go back to how they use to be. My dramatic life change was something that she would not be suited for. It was not that she could not handle everything that occurred in my life; it was just that it wasn’t who she was. She was never one for the spotlight and the drama and everything. She was simple, her name contradicting her personality at times.

But in all actuality, Aurora was a contradiction of herself. She enjoyed the simple things in life and never asked for much. But she was extremely complicated. She never knew what she wanted, and had this round about way of explaining the simplest of things. She had me in a fit of giggles when she did that though. We had that cliché childhood friendship that all the movies portray. But nothing in the films could ever compare to our good old days.

I have to say that my favorite contradiction of hers was her safe, cautious side mixing with her daring, adventurous side. She would often jump head first into something, and then step back to examine the dangers that could lie ahead, taking cautious steps until she new the danger was clear, only to go back to the adventure of whatever she had started.

And my lease favorite contradiction was that she was a hopeless romantic and incredibly realistic. She would often fantasize about her “happily ever after” from the countless Disney Princess movies she tortured me with, but she would constantly remind herself that “happily ever after” could never exist in the real world. I always tried to reassure her that her fairytale ending could easily come to life, but she would always brush it off. It was something that would always break my heart because she never thought of herself worthy for “one’s true love”. But she was my true love, and nothing in the world would change that.

The creaking of my bedroom door brought me back from my thoughts. I turned my head around to see my mum, poking her head around my door. She wore a soft smile, something she does a lot when I return home. I returned her smile as I sat on the edge of my bed. My mum quickly came in, shutting the door, and shuffling her way over to the empty spot next to me.

Not much was said for a few minutes, both of us just staring straight ahead at the door that my mum had just previously walked through. Finally, she put her hand on my knee and spoke.

“Enjoy today please. We’ve missed you so much and we just want to see you and catch up. You can look for her tomorrow, okay?” She said, with concern in her voice.

While my mum has always had a soft spot for Aurora, her love for me was greater, as it was expected in a mother-son relationship, and she just wanted some quality time with me. I understood her commands, giving her a small nod to show her my understanding.
