"NO!! Please no!" A strident cry reverberated from the shadows in the building darkened alleys.

"Too bad kid, it's time to pay up." A deep and angry voice hissed sharply, all the while as the cries continued.

The loud pounding sound of rain on the old apartment building's windows droned on. It had been raining for days. Umbrellas would always be seen bobbing up and down the wet, slimy streets of New York city.  I despised the rain; it was cold, annoying, and relatively sad to see, plus someone always seemed to be crying while it fell from the dark unrelenting clouds overhead.

"Please!! I beg you, please don't do this! I'll get the money! I promise" The voice pleaded.

"I don't think a pitiful thing to look at, such as you, deserves a second chance!" the towering shadow barked. The neighbors could hear the sniveling shouts but simply closed the curtains and turned up the Television to drown it out. 

'It would all be over soon,' they thought; 'it always ended, eventually.'

Finally it did, the shouts and cries soon died out within the night, although the rain didn't cease. It poured like the tears of the individual left in the dark, like so many ironically were, alone...
