"Whisperstar!" A shrill cry cut through the air, causing the gray tabby to turn and look at the source of the cry. A calico queen stood there, her icy blue eyes seemingly staring into Whisperstar's own twisted soul. His dark copper gaze flashed for moment, and suddenly a large black tom with sun-colored eyes barreled into Whisperstar, knocking him over.
"Sungaze!" Whisperstar hissed at the tom, and Sungaze in return swatted at Whisperstar's eye. Whisperstar hissed at the tom, and the calico queen bounded towards them.
"Sungaze!" she cried sharply, tears streaming down her face. The black-pelted tom halted, his paw raised threateningly above Whisperstar's throat. Whisperstar let out a laugh, eyes glowing darkly.
"Wow," he said mockingly "you got me. Good job." Sungaze looked confused for a second, and in that second, Whisperstar threw the black tom off of him. Sungaze flew a few mouse-tails, and then a threatening clap of thunder rocked the calico off her paws. Whisperstar advanced on her.
"You know Spottedflight," he said, analyzing his claws threateningly, "I really loved you. Shame, you know."
"What? What's a shame?" Spottedflight asked, voice raising in fear. Her pelt bristled.
"I have to kill you."
"No you won'!" Sungaze lept through the air, and a blast of lightning shook the ground, silouetting the two toms. Spottedflight shook her head, and backed away, fearing fo rher kits.
"Spottedflight!" Whisperstar kicked Sungaze under the chin, causing the tom to fall, exsposing his soft belly. Whisperstar ranked a set of thorn-sharp claws over it, and Sungaze howled in pain.
"You-you betrayed me!" Whisperstar's yowl was pain-stricken and filled with agony. His eyes were dark as he gazed at his former mate. Tears gathered in his eyes.
"I did this all for you, you selfish fox-heart!" He hissed, staggering towards Spottedflight. Wounds gaped along his sides, and his sharp copper eyes dimming faintly. He looked over at her.
"Re-remeber when...as an apprentice you wanted to...to be.. the leaders mate...." He gasped, legs folding under him. Spottedflight shook her head. She had caused this. He collasped a few mouse-tails away from Spottedflight, and he hissed faintly, breath ragged and sharp.
"You..you fox. Stealing my heart when yours..." he meakly flicked his tail towards Sungaze's unconchoious body. "...Belonged to another.....and for that..." his gaze dimmed, and coughed up blood. Carefully, Spottedflight inched closer. Sungaze stirred faintly, but Spottedflight payed no attention. She let a few tears roll down her face, and Whisperstar looked up at her with mournful copper eyes, lined with pure agony, a light with fire of rage.
"I'm sorry..." he said, and he reached his paw out. "You....were...my..ever..every..my every..thing." He said, his voice ragged and rasping. His eyes dimmed and his flank stopped moving. Suddenly the shock of thunder rocked the clearing, and Sungaze stirred one more.
"I'm sorry..." His final words echoed in Spottedflight's head. Suddenly, she stared at Whisperstar's unmoving body. His paw twitched, and Spottedflight gaped. She was alone, and Whisperstar had only StarClan knows many lives left. His eyes shot open, and he unquestionly lept at icy-blue eyed calico with out a single thought.
"Haha," he snicked at her fearful expression as he pinned her. He backed off, and sharply kicked her ribs, and she cried out. He smiled at her, and swatted her over the head with unsheathed claws, and thin lines of blood beaded her face. She panted, and suddenly let out an eerie wail.
"The kits! The-the kits!" she screamed, and Whisperstar smiled, and ranked his claws across her throat. She gurgled up blood, and collasped. Her breath stirred, and her icy blue eyes turned cold and dull. Blood pooled around her.
Whisperstar stared at her body, and then started sobbing over it. Face pressed into her fur, and paws resting on her lifeless corpse, Sungaze stared at him. Greif, he though. Guilt, flashed in his mind. He made sure his pawsteps made no noise. He flashed out a paw, and blood tricked down Whisperstar's back. He tore his face away from Spottedflight's pelt, and faced the tom calmly.
"Four more." He said, and Sungaze slashed his throat. He fell over, lifeless. His eyes closed, and thunder and lightning shook the clearing again. Cold, hard, rain poured down, soaking Sungaze to the bone. Whisperstar stirred, and gave Sungaze a last, final look. He snarled, and lept at Sungaze. His paws fumbled, and Sungaze's paws reached under him and cut his belly, blood splattering everywhere.
"Sungaze, you traitor!" he hissed, and Sungaze lept at him, thunder crackling though the clearing. Sungaze ranked claws into Whisperstar's flank, and he collapsed. He stirred once; and his breath left his body.
Sungaze let out a sigh of relief, and Whisperstar hissed. Sungaze only had a second to look shocked, and Whisperstar bit into his throat. Sungaze let out a yowl of anger, but his paws fumbled clumsily for Whisperstar's neck. Sungaze collapsed, and coughed up blood.
Sungaze went still, and Whisperstar glared at the body. He kicked it sharply, and his paws were stained scaret. His mind whirled, and suddenly stormclouds parted. A beam of moonlight floated around, and suddenly it transformed into a dark ginger she-cat with glimmering star-light colored eyes.
"Whisperstar," She stated flatly, no emotion. "I am Gingerstar, and I am here to warn you. "
"About what?" He snarled, and the two spirits of Sungaze and Spottedflight skimmed towards him. They glared at him.
"The dust of the ashes will capture the heart of the whisper and the shadows of the moon will fall to the vanquishing whisper as the stars take all."
"What is that supposed to mean?" He hissed, and his copper eyes flashed.
"That you will...." he voice trailed off. He hissed angerily at the fading forms of the three cats. Their eyes glowed brightly for a fleeting moment and disapeared.
"What does it mean?" he sceamed at the moon-beam, which was being swallowed up by the stormclouds. He let out a wail of pure anger and frustation.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN?" he screamed. No movement but the wind in the trees answered his question. He hissed the procpchey again.
"The dust of the ashes will capture the heart of the whisper and the shadows of the moon will fall to the vanquishing whisper as the stars take all." Shaking his head, he promised that no-one could ever hear of the omen.
"The forest of pure evil will be destroyed by the scattered embers." A voice whispered. Whisperstar turned around to see a pure silver tabby with icy-blue eyes and a black chest and white paws. She smiled at him.
"My name is Moonstar." She spoke softly, and instead of starlight glimmering around her, dark mist spread out with tendril like claws reaching for their victom. They seemed to hover above the ground, reached towards Whisperstar.
"I am here to offer you a deal." Her blue eyes glowed darkly, and her claws unsheathed.
Whisperstar smiled. He loved deals.
