The Past

Chapter 1

"Ms. Maze your last meeting for today was cancelled as the client had an emergency and need to leave ASAP."

Thats my secretary jenny. I lift my head to look at her while she's saying that my meeting was cancelled. What a very good timing.

"Thanks Jen. You can go now."

I finished the last report that i need to send and head home. Im on my way when my best friend call me.

"Hey Gab"

"Hi bitch! Where are you? I know your meeting has been cancelled so i was wondering if we can go grab a drink?"

"I'll have to pass babe i need to do something"

"Oh c'mon! Maze i know that you will just sleep in your pajamas the whole weekend!"

"I'm not re—."

She cut me off

"You know that i don't take no for an answer. Right babe?"

Here she goes again with her bratty attitude.

"Fine." I sighed and i heard her chuckle, a sign that she knows she won.

"Okay great. I'll see you at 8 pm alright? Bye. Love you!"

She didn't even wait for me to respond and just drop the call.

By the way I'm Maze Dalton and that girl? She's Gabriela Dan my Filipino-American best friend. I'm one of the chief executives of  JXC Enterprise. 27 years old and been working with them for the last 5 years together with gab.

I arrived home safely and as i checked the clock its 5:30 pm i still have a lot of time before gab's come over.

I threw myself into the bed and memories of  my past rushed back, time before i became this successful.

6 Years Ago

"Lets break up"  I said

"No maze. Please let's talk. Let me explain."

"Why would i listen to you? And Explain what? Why you're such an asshole? Huh?"

That's Andrei Lopez. And he's my long time boyfriend. We're together for 5 years but he ended up cheating on me.

"Please maze" He plead.

"No Andrei I'm done listening to your bullshit!"

With that i left with my heart broken into pieces and holding back my tears.

Breaking up with him was my turning point. But it wasn't easy. It took me years to finally cope up and fix my life.

I'm on my way to the office. Im working as Agent and Im stuck in traffic. I'm 1 hour late for my shift.

"Where the hell are you maze? You're late again."

Oh great! Now he's calling me. that's my Team Lead my not so good TL

"Good evening too TL I'm almost there just caught in a traffic. Be there in 10."

"Make it fast."

Then he ended the call.

WHAT EVER!

Sometimes i was just wondering if I'll be better than this cause this isn't really what i wanted to but i guess i don't have a choice because life's sucks. 

After a long freaking time i arrive at work and greeted with a pair of glaring eyes.

I started my shift the usual and ended it just in time.

I was about to leave when i saw my TL going to my station.

"Hey TL need something?" I asked

"Yes. i need you to come to my desk before going home. ASAP." He said

"Uhm sure?" Not sure why he's being so serious tho.

I followed him after i finished cleaning my desk.

"Sit down" the coldness and seriousness of his voice made me shiver.

"Uhm hey what's going on?" I Asked

" I want to know what is going on maze. its been weeks and you've change. A lot. You're not doing very good like you were before. Lots of absences, lates your performance is failing."

I dont really wanna listen him making his lectures.

"I saved your ass to our boss's multiple times  already. You were given lots of chance and you didnt change. You were sent for an admin hearing and for dismissal already."

I didnt want to listen but i froze upon hearing his last statement.

"What did you just say?" I asked him not sure if i heared him.right

"You're gonna lose this job maze." Then he left me. Speechless.
