Dedicated to:
Amber Hyde, Liam Hyde, and Katrina Anderson
I held her close in my arms, I could feel the fire blazing around us... I heard people screaming and shouting from the outside.I wasn't sure if this was the end;
I wasn't sure if this was the beginning;
All I knew is that I loved her. I loved her so much that I couldn't stand the thought of not being with her.
I felt a tear fall down my soot-dusted face, making me aware of her tears on my arm.
I kissed her head as we waited, staring at the burning ground, wondering is this it? What will become of us? Will our story become mere ashes smeared on the ground for indifferent people to scrape off when we're through? Will our bodies be taken and forgotten? Will we be forgotten? Only a speed bump on the road of society.I jumped as an explosion sounded to my left. Felt the heat of the flames as I held her tighter waiting for the end.
And as I waited for death as the sky of fire to descend upon us, I had one thought.
I'll never let go.
"I love you"
And the mouth of destruction swallowed us whole.
