Die.

That's the first thing that comes to my mind.

I was wandering through the sidewalk. I didn't know where I was.

I heard honks and horns from cars. Suddenly I was in the middle of the streets.

More honks. More horns.

"Hey, get out of the way!" I heard a driver say. I didn't listen.

My legs kept moving in different directions and all I see is a blur of cars, going into collision.

How did I end up here?

"Hey! Get off the streets!" I turned to see who it was. Another guy. Maybe in his 30's. He ran towards me and pushed us off the streets.

We fell on the sidewalk.

"You okay?" My head was spinning. His face was spinning. Everywhere around me was spinning.

He shook me. "Hey, you all right?"

My eyes were closing, "Mhm." And I knocked out.

Seventeen hours later and I awoke in someone's house.

I was lying on the couch with a blanket around me.

The blanket kept me warm but the house was dead cold.

I was shivering under the blanket. I see someone coming.

"Hey, feeling better?" I see an early to mid 20's guy coming towards me. He crouched down next to me as he gave me a glass of water.

"Where am I?"

"You're in my house." I drank the water as he was still talking. "I saw you wandering around the streets and you were about to get hit by a truck. I pushed you out of the way. I asked if you were okay and you just passed out."

I groaned as I tried to sit up on the couch.

"Try not to move too much. You probably have a concussion from whatever happened to you."

I swallowed. I looked at him real closely. I guess he wasn't around his 30's. Maybe his early 20's.

"Do you remember anything that happened to you?"

I thought about what happened earlier this morning.

"N-no." I pulled the blankets further towards my chest from coldness.

"Sorry about that." The guy stood up and put up the heat of the temp. "My house gets cold from time to time." He was walking towards his chimney to bring out some fire. He turned around. "I'm Jake, by the way." He continued.

He waited for my response, 15 seconds later.

"And you are?"

"I.. Umm." I forgot my name. "Umm"

He worked on the fire as he waited.

"Claire. I'm Claire."

"Claire." He paused. "What a nice name."

I cleared my throat. "So uh when do I get to go home?"

"Well, do you remember where you live? First you don't know what happened to you and now you almost forgot your name."

"Yes, I remember." I lied.

"Then you can leave whenever you feel like. I can drive you."

"No. No, I'm okay. I can walk."
