*The Impassible Wall*
She was told what to do the day she was born,
No choice, no chance, no freedom,
Opportunities flew by,
And each night she cried,
Desperate to have her own way.
None the less, she went on with each day,
Meeting new friends and getting good grades,
But then one day something changed,
She was faced with an impassible wall.
She didn't cry or run,
In fact she stayed in her place,
Looking up at the wall,
Staring it straight in the face
This time she was alone,
The choice was all hers,
With no parents or plans
She was left with the miserable unknown.
With a blink of her eyes and the courage of her mind,
She stood up and she started to climb,
She climbed and climbed until she reached the top,
Overlooking everything she had done to get to this point.
She saw her parents and their faces were shocked,
She had done what she wanted
She was no longer blocked,
So there she stood with her feet on the ground,
Her parents looking up as she looked down
She had proved them wrong and they had nothing to say
She knew she was on her way.
