-1975 London-

Harry Styles was a shy seventeen year old university student, studying the arts. He was aesthetically pleasing to the eye, brunette curls framing his chiseled features perfectly, as well as piercing green eyes and plump pink lips. Though he was outgoing to those who knew him well, he struggled with people and social skills. He liked and preferred to communicate through the lyrics of a song, finding them to be much more powerful than he could be. Harry wanted to be seen. Like everyone, he had the dream of that one defining moment in your life that would make you feel whole. He searched for it, but it never came.

That was until he met Louis.

Harry met Louis in the best time possible- well that's what it had seemed to be. Harry was walking out of Starbucks, and being his clumsy , anti-social self, he tripped over the metal of the doorframe and into an unsuspected person. They both let out a collective grunt and soon Harry was sprawled on top of the man. His eyes widened as he gasped quietly and was scrambling to get up.

"I-I oh god, I'm s-so sorry" he squeaked out trying to help the man up as well. God this was bad. Not only had he knocked a person down, he had knocked an officer down.

He was crimson red by this time as he met the officers oceanic eyes and tanned skin, gasping quietly as he helped the man to his feet. He bit down on his lip hard as he went to apologize again, but was quickly cut off by the unnamed handsome officer.

"It's really okay love, I'm fine" the man uttered in a surprisingly higher, raspy voice that Harry couldn't help but melt for. "I've been through worse" he laughed winking at Harry.

Harry blushed deeply at the gesture. "I really am so sorry, I'm such a clutz" he blushed biting his lip harder. He watched as the officer smiled tenderly before reaching out to touch his shoulder "It's really okay..." He trailed off waiting for his name.

"Harry" Harry breathed out softly, his whole body electrifying as he felt the mans touch. He supposed the man had felt it too, as he saw his eyes widen slightly.

"I like it" he hummed softly as he looked at Harry. "I'm Leiutenant Tomlinson, but please call me Louis" he had breathed softly. "May I buy you another drink?" He had hummed as he looked at Harry's spilt one on the floor.

Harry blushed before he shook his head. "I pretty much mauled you, Lei- Louis" he blushed. "So I think I owe you one" he bit his lip as he looked at the man.

Louis had just smiled as nodded, "Cute, but I will buy you a drink love, come" he had hummed, opening the door for him, symbolizing the beginning of their relationship.

From that moment the two had just worked. They fit perfect together, soon becoming a couple, both of them deeply in love. The 21 year old officer was head over -well, boots- for his 17 year old shy artsy university student. Though Louis was stern and disciplined for the British Navy, Harry always made him soft. Harry loved that about their relationship. Harry knew this was the moment he'd been waiting for, where everything was perfect...

Until it wasn't.

-1979 London-

Twenty-one year old Harry Styles was tired. He was lonely. He was depressed. He sighed as he stepped into his small flat, toeing off his worn out boots, and locking the front door. He had finished university earlier in the year and was now working at a community center teaching underprivileged children music. He loved his job, he really did, but he was empty. He had been empty for three years. Louis was deployed to Iraq about a year after they met. They had broken it off before he left due to Louis not wanting to hurt Harry by being away. He didn't know how long Louis would be away and in a way he was glad they had, seeing as four years had passed so slowly, but quickly as well. He bit his lip hard as he slowly made his way to his room, laying down on his massive bed, curling into the pillow.......because that was all he had to hold.
