In the USA about every 16 minutes someone commits suicide*. It is estimated that one out of twelve USA teens self-harm**. It is also estimated that one out of five Americans has an eating disorder***. There are ways where you can help these people.
Every 16 minutes in the US, a person commits suicide. That is about 80-90 people daily, and 30,000 people yearly. Around 750,000 people attempt suicide yearly which is 2,083 people daily, and one person per minute*.
It is approximated one out of twelve teens self-harm; girls are more likely to have a self-harming problem than boys. Nevertheless, boys self-harm too**. Self –harm can consist of many actions, a few examples are cutting, burning, and beating. Any form of hurting yourself from anger, sadness, or pain is considered self-harm.
Approximately one out of every five Americans struggle with an eating disorder; anorexia, blithe, binge, or obesity***. It doesn’t matter the eating disorder, it is a struggle. People have these either because they are upset or they can’t stop eating. They also have an eating disorder because of what people have said to them, or what they see of themselves.
There are many ways you can help out. I help out people who struggle with these things by posting quotes, and talking to them through Instagram and an instant messenger. I have saved a lot of lives, helped people stop self-harming, got people to eat, people to laugh, and people to open up and talk about their problems. I always wanted to be a superhero and now I am saving lives around the world.
If you know someone who has suicidal thoughts, self-harms, eating disorders or anything else that is harmful to his/her, you should defiantly contact someone who can help you. If you know someone who is thinking about ending your life tell your parents, teachers, call 911 or someone who can help. Do not keep these things to yourself it will only get worse if you do. One of my favorite quotes to remember is, “You can’t have a rainbow without a little rain.”
