The girl stood in the blinding snow, her thick black hair tied into a loose bun. She was covered in clothing from head to toe. You had to be, to stand in a freezing cold such as this. She had her arms wrapped around a small object.
Moments later, the headlights of a rickety military truck appeared from the haze. The side of the vehicle was covered in chipped paint, and one could make out a few scattered words of a language that seemed to make no logical since. The girl hastily climbed into the passenger seat, next to a tall man with ruffled brown hair. She let go of her precious cargo slightly- it was a very small and a very fat dog, with long, matted once-upon-a-time white fur. It stared playfully at its master, panting slightly.
The truck rolled over the frozen terrain, bumping enormously at every pothole.
The car sat in silence. The two were still strangers, brought together in the most fantisaical turn of events.
Hardly anything could be seen through the lashing snow, and the man squinted painfully to make out the usual landmarks that indicated that he was on the right track. After fifteen minutes of silence, a monster loomed over the road; Einhyrningsins Science Facility, which had in more recent days become one of humanities last stands.
Snow accompanied the truck on all sides, giving a deep feeling of claustrophobia. Off, far away a gutteral cry reached the car, something far byond human.
Both knew what it ment.
Nither said a word.
