Sixteen

The Gift

    "Hey Becca, over here!"
I quickly turn around only to find Ben frantically rushing over to me with a box in his hands. As he comes closer, the box becomes more visible.  
    "I almost forgot to give this to you," he exclaimed in between breaths. Ben had shaggy brown hair and brown eyes to match. I've know him since I was five. In fact, because I'm an only child, he is like the brother I never had. "Well don't just stare at it," he proclaimed. I take the box from his hands. It was a blue chevron box with gold details. It was the prettiest box I had ever seen! There was no card so I balanced the box with one hand and took off the lid with the other. "OMG!!!!!" I could not believe my eyes. I lay the box on the ground and take out a light blue shirt that had my travel softball teams' logo on it.
"I love it so much," I exclaimed. Ben had a grin from ear to ear. " I thought it would be a great bday gift"his face now turning rose pink. I nodded my head and gave him a hug. Today was my 16th birthday, and it has been amazing already! I'm nervous but excited to be taking on life as a proud 16 year old.I look at Ben with gratitude for the shirt, and he looked at me. Our eyes link and it seems as if time had stopped Untill...

Omg, that was the bell! We look at each other and start running.
