"What... the heck... did you do?"
Now that Erika and I are safe, I have time to process the question, replying, "I just asked the Ent - "
"WHAT ENT? There are no NPCs here!" Erika cuts me off. Then more calmly, she adds, more to herself than to me: "Wait, then I wasn't hallucinating you doing who-knows-what uselessness while I NEARLY DIED!" At this realization my friend raises her voice again.
I sigh before reminding the poor girl: "We're still in a dungeon. Let's not try to attract more monsters to us with your screaming..." Wait. I 'm sure I hear the words "how curious" from somewhere. I must be going -
"Your friend doesn't seem to notice me here. I wonder why?"
...crazy.
WAIT WHAT?
No cursors and therefore players are within range of my map. I turn to the "Ent-tree", thinking this to be the only possible origin of the voice. The first time I had heard this creature speak, it seemed to use telepathy to communicate. Now a face has been carved into the tree's bark, its mouth moving.
I scream.
Erika, who had still been ranting about almost having her brain fried, stops and turns to me. "Didn't you just tell me to stop screaming?" she asks. "Besides, what are you freaking out about anyway?"
"It's nothing, I just thought I saw something," I assure my party member. "You should head back to Miche. After what just happened I don't think it's safe for you here."
"How about you then? That thing might as well been as strong as the dungeon boss! If it attacks you you'll be good as dead!"
I check my inventory, realizing I might have one teleport crystal left. Thankfully, it is there. I materialize the precious item and put it in my pocket, telling Erika: "I'll be fine. I'm not going to be here for much longer anyway."
Once she leaves, I turn to the Ent.

Okay, back to work! From now on I'll try to make shorter chapters more frequently.
(Also for Code Geass fans I'm working on a oneshot, and Erased or Madoka Magica maybe? What do you think?)
