The next day,I woke up to the sound of rain drops.I pulled the covers off and ran to my window. To my delight, it was raining. The sky was filled with gray fluffy clouds that covered the sun. This was going to be my day. After I changed into warm clothes,I grabbed my jacket and umbrella and made my way out the door.

I was waiting for the cars to pass by before walking down the street to the high school. Once they passed,I decided to start walking. Then, all of a sudden, a black jeep drives close by making water splash all over me.I was soaked from head to toe! The worst part was that the driver didn't even stop to say sorry. They could have at least rolled down the window to say sorry.

And I thought today my day.
Within a few seconds, the bell rang.I felt the dampness of my clothes and decided to go home and change.

I arrived at school 30 minutes late. After getting a tardy slip from the office,I hurried to my first class. Before I opened the door,I noticed that the class was very quiet. So quiet you can hear the sound of pencils being utilized. It's not a typical sound for this class.
I walked inside to see I was right.Students were writing independently without conversing with their neighbors.I was impress and sort of smiling.I turned to see Mr. Cipriano with the same emotion, however it changed once he saw me.He dropped his pen on his clip board and got up from his brown leathered chair. He walked up to me and I couldn't help but notice what he was wearing. He was dressed in a light blue dress shirt with a dark blue wool round- neck sweater, along with dark blue jeans that were rolled up, probably a little to long for him, with dark brown Oxfords. He has a good taste in clothing. It was casual, yet professional.

"Um, Ms. Lancaster," he hesitated. "Can I see you after class?"

"I know I was late.I'm sorry, but-"

"You're not in trouble." He said. "

Before I could ask why he needed me to stay he responded.

"Take this paper and write a poem about anything." He said handing me a paper. "Remember to stay after class."

I walked to my seat and sat down. Why does he want to see me after class? Am I already failing? No,I can't be.It's the first week of school. Then what is it?Is Mr. Cipriano mad at me? He said I wasn't in trouble. What if he lied? Today was not a good day.I shook my head and started at the assignment.I already knew what I was going to write.

The bell rang making everyone exit the door before turning in their poems.Remembering what Mr. Cipriano said, I turned in my poem and stayed in the room. Once everyone left, he turned his attention to my poem. He picked it up from tge corner of his desk and began analyzing it.When he got to the end,he set the paper down and ran a hand through his hair.

"I'm the idiot and careless person that caused you to get soaked."

I covered my mouth as I remembered the poem. The poem was how I felt about this morning, which included the 'wet' incident.I used idiot and careless to describe the person in the car from this morning.

"I am so sorry. I didn't know it was you driving." I quickly responded.

To my surprise he shook his head and chuckled.

"It's raining and you were walking to school. My car soaked you wet and you're sorry? I should be the one apologizing."

"But I was so mean.-"

"You were late because of me.I apologize."

I gave a slight nod and smiled. "I accept your apology."

He returned the smile.

"And you used poetry to let out your emotions. I'm proud of you. I might add that it's pretty darn good."
