I see her standing there

With her arms wide open to the air

Ready to take the leap

Head hanging in defeat

Her cries for help went unheard

And now she stands there believing she’s a bird

She’s gunna jump

She wants to fly

Spreading her arms in the belief she can fly

No intent that she will be caught

Even after all the time she fought

I scream and shout as she starts to fall

I wonder if she heard me at all

I run to help but she hits the ground

No one else has heard a sound

They didn’t miss her fluttering heart beating

Never got a chance at meeting, her

Her beautiful words gone with her spirit

Leaving me and the ones who will miss her

She believed she was a bird

Made her dream come true before she was gone

Now as I walk I hear the birds she so envied, sing and think of her

Am reminded of her voice, her dreams and her pain

In the end she let the pain come

She let it take hold of her very being

Now I stand where she stood

Looking down at what she saw

Trying to understand what was going through her mind

A strong woman created from a broken home

Beaten and abused

Hated and used

She was ignored and disgraced

But she always came out on top

She didn’t that last time though

All her pleas for help left unheard

Even by those she loved

Her pain went untold

Her response was unimaginable

Or so we all thought

She jumped and my heart broke

She jumped and my heart died

She was gone and so was my heart

She was gone and she took it with her
