One week later,
After the Tampa Bay Lightning take down the Detroit Red Wings in five games, much to Detroit's disappointment and Larkin's strange happiness, Round 2 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs begins with Tampa facing off against the New York Islanders.
Vladdy continues to attempt to speed up the healing process of Anton Stralman and Steven Stamkos as the team gets some much needed and deserved rest. And during this time, reports come in about Brendan Gallagher.
Turns out, Gallagher is very very very ill. After dozens of tests were ran and the wicked Hab was studied closely, the Mental Hospital in Montreal informs everyone, including Yzerman that the forward is suffering from Narcissistic Personality Disorder with a strong desire for revenge. They tell the GM that Gallagher is a Malignant Narcissist who is to be kept locked away and never play hockey in the NHL again for fear of injuring Vladislav Namestnikov.
Yzerman then lets Andreychuk know, who translates the news to the Bolts, including the shocked and stunned Galchenyuk.
A few days later during the break, Galchenyuk, finally over the whole 'Gallagher is really insane' thing, finds himself sitting on the bench during an optional morning skate at Amalie. His phone is sitting beside him. He turns and looks down at it as it suddenly goes off. He smiles as he reads the name, 'Dylan Larkin.'
"What's up Dylan?" Galchenyuk casually asks, answering the call.
"Nothing much, D.C. is rather lovely, as opposed to Philly or Pittsburgh, you know?" He chuckles.
"D.C.? What are you doing there?"
"OH! I never told you, Chucky...let the others know too. My wonderful agent was able to swing a few calls and tie some knots...basically I'm a Capital now!" Larkin exclaims, full of excitement.
"Oh wow, congrats!" Galchenyuk remarks, unable to keep from smiling at hearing the new buzzing excitement in Larkin's voice.
"It's a dream come true! I was traded to Washington for someone named Brooks Orpik! And now, I get to play with THE Alexander Ovechkin! I can't believe this is happening! I'm actually eating lunch with him right now."
"Ugh, rookies...come on and eat your food Larks," a thick Russian accent sounds, playfully. "And don't waste it either! In Russia--"
"Yeah, that's Ovi...I just wanted to call you though and say thank you. I never would have gotten out of Detroit without your help! But I gotta run now! Thanks Galchenyuk and good luck, may we meet in the Conference Finals!"
"Ha-ha awesome! You're welcome! Don't forget, NO CHEATING and, keep your head up Dylan Larkin!"
"Of course! Bye Chucky!"
"Bye Dylan!" Galchenyuk chuckles as he hangs up and Vladdy skates over to him.
"How's the little rookie ex-Red Wing now, I take it, doing?" Vladdy asks, leaning Yzerchuk up against the boards of the bench with extra care and then grabs his water bottle to take a sip of his water.
Galchenyuk looks at him, beaming with happiness. "He's a Washington Capital now, Vladdy! I'm so happy for him!"
"You didn't have anything to do with that happening did you?" Vladdy playfully scolds him with a wink.
Galchenyuk gets to his skates, stuffing his phone away. "Of course not, Vladislav."
"Oh Chucky..." Vladdy sighs as Yzerchuk slowly falls to the ice making Vladdy jump with shock. "Yzerchuk!" He quickly picks his magical stick up and brushes the ice off of it. "You can't fall on the ice now! Come on this isn't preseason!"
