I've never laughed or cried, I am emotionless everyone is you get a shot when you are born emotions are a sin in our world.
I have been like this since birth I also remember every moment of my life since I was in my mothers stomach till today the first day of high school I am twelve years old and the year is 2905 I've always been in love with art secretly, art is banned in Ilienais it's been banned for years now for the last 900 years. The protectors believe it's a sin creativity is banned, outfits are chosen and foods every day is the same boring stuff but I know what it was like when creativity was free because, don't tell anyone but my family has a book a forbidden book about what creativity is like. It's birthday tomorrow a day were everyone celebrates aging. When I'm thirteen my entire life story gets decided, university, job, mate, amount of kids and death date I feel strange about it it's weird.
" Maximus" mom calls I grab my grey bag and throw on my designated outfit, I put all my school supplies in the designated pockets of my big bag and walk down the stairs " yes mom" I say there she is standing looking out the window in her black dress. We even have designated colours, from one to eleven it's white, grey is twelve to twenty when you're mated and after that it's black and on you're death bed back to white. She turns around " oh my big boy dressed in grey finally" " mom I don't want to be late" I say she hands me my lunch box and almost kisses me on my head then pulls away and pushes me out the door.
At school my assigned friends all welcome me and introduce themselves the first boy has curly brown hair, blue eyes and has pale white skin " my names Cornelius but call me Leo" he says, the second boy has black straight hair brown eyes and tan skin his voice is deep and he has a Australian accent he say " ay mate me names Jacob but y'all can call me jake" I realize that accents are removed at the age of thirteen as well as aging ceremony I take a deep breath and say "my names Maximus but call me max" they nod in unisons and we walk to our first call which is called class of sins.
In class they teach us about the sins and how creativity is evil and that the only creative thing in our world is names and accents until aging ceremony but after aging ceremony everything is chosen for us teacher speaks of how good it is that we have everything chosen for us then teacher dismisses us. Second class is math which is my favourite class because the protectors said it is after that it is preparation for aging ceremony were me and my friends prepare then back to classes next is history then gym then lunch and last sciences at the end of the day me Leo and jake walk to our lockers grab our stuff and walk home.
When I got home my mother and father were in the kitchen father had blond hair was wearing a black suit and was reading the news paper mother was in a the black dress from this morning her red hair in a bun she was cooking what smelled like fish but I new it was chicken it smelt like fish cause father works as the head of a fish factory. Father looked up and said "son welcome home, how was ur day max" " good I met my new friends there names are Leo and jake, we practiced for aging ceremony it was fun" I said, he nodded and went back to reading the paper. Then mother came up to me and said " maxwell go upstairs and get ready for tomorrow send down ur clothes and I'll iron them then come and eat then it's off to bed tomorrow's a big day" I nod and go upstairs.
