Author's note: Hi, this is my very first story. So, please don't expect a lot from this.
"Lord, you are my body, my spirit, and all things good in this world" preached the priest. "For your undying loyalty, I heed a child from your orphanage shall grow up as a paladin and banish evil from our realm" said the Almighty. "I thank you, my Lord" replied the priest.
And He spoke the truth as Sir Mark, the paladin of St. Rose church, was his name. Mark was born in the church and was left by his real parents as they could not afford to have another child. Mark is young adult that has great amount of knowledge, considerable amount of strength, and a strong bond with the church. He was given a scroll by the now archbishop, stating that he was fated to destroy evil. He was also told that he was going to leave in a few days. He simplly accepted his fate, as he knew he couldn't stop destiny. Although Mark has many great capabilities, he is a human, so he has a flaw. He is very quiet. He would just nod or swing his head left to right to show if he agrees or not.
A few days later
It is finally the day. The day where he would leave the church to remove evil from the world. While he was packing, everyone in the church went to him to give him a gift before he leaves. The last one was Father John. He has always been a fatherly figure to Mark ever since he was found here. "Mark, I can't believe you are leaving" he started, digging for something in his pocket. "I can't do anything to stop you" he continued, finally grabbing onto something. "But I can give you this" he finished, pulling out from his pocket a.......... Box? "But do heed my warning, only open it when you need it the most in a bad situation. And most importantly, don't let anyone know that you have this. And so he left the church, with a sword in one hand, prayer beads in another, and his rucksack.
A couple of hours after he left, Mark started to wonder what is inside the box. Is it an orb? A ring? A book? He kept thinking until he heard something that stopped his train of thought. "Somebody, help me!" Mark is rushing to the scene and found out that a Ranger is surrounded by goblins riding wolves. Wolf jockeys! "Hey there, stranger. The name's Elena. Now if you don't mind, can you help me?!" Shouted Elena, obviously scared. Mark can't help but think about that name. It's so familiar. But he can think later, as he need to help this person. He banged his sword to his shield so he can draw the jockeys' attention and it worked. Now the jockeys are on Mark, while Elena can shoot them down. They fought long and hard, their number is slowly going down. Then, all of a sudden, a jockey was able to bite Mark in his shoulder. Sharp pain invaded as his adrenaline kicked in. He was able to kill the jockey, but there were still more. "I need to finish this so I could treat my shoulder." And with that in thought, he unleashed his Lightwave, weakening them so Elena can finish them off. "Take this! Arrow Rain!" And with that, she unleashed arrows almost instantly, killing the rest of them.
"Hwew! That was a hell of a fight back there!" Cried Elena, while she was getting the loot of the battle and while Mark is looking for his medical supplies in his rucksack. "Hey, wanna split the loot? There's a lot of it and it's also for saving me back there. Wait, I never really got your name." She said while taking a good look on Mark. She was surprised. "M-M-Mark?!" "?!"
