That Winter Night: I Found Her

Chester just started walking out of the school as the dismissal bell rang inside the rather large boarding school, igniting every students' adrenaline rush. The hall was instantly flooded by students with various clothes, height and/or width, hair and scents. Laughing, chatting, giggling, screaming and yelling was mixed in one annoyingly obnoxious sound. With a sigh, Chester pushed past it all; headphones on. It was in the midst of December and snow had already begun to fall, creating a thick blanket of whiteness, covering the dirty grass beneath it. Snowflakes constantly falling in a slow snail-like motion, building up on either the trees, people's heads, or roofs. Chester dug his hands on his pockets and decided for a cup of coffee before heading home for the day. He saw the familiar Café he came to love and rushed inside, only to see his long time crush having a heated make out session with some random guy right after she promised to wait for him. His world shattered around him as he suddenly felt numb. He had gave her his heart---in a silver plate---only for her to return it in shredded pieces and thorns. What had he done to deserve this? He was a good person, he helped people in need, put others before him and yet here he was holding his broken heart in his trembling hands. He needed to get away from the heart-rending sight and out the Café he went, walking at a faster pace towards the city park.

Lying on the white blanket of ice he sighed, a frown on his slightly red lips. On the far East he saw a girl around his age crying whilst hugging herself as if shielding herself from the cruel and bitter reality. Chester's frown deepened at the sight of the girl, then something inside him screamed to go and somehow comfort her. A stranger to his forest green eyes. Why? Nonetheless, he picked himself up, dusting his clothes in the process and approached her.

"Hey, are you okay?" Chester said, kneeling down to her current position. She raised her head to look up at him. Her hazelnut brown eyes---red and somewhat dull. "What kind of sick world do you live in where it's okay to cry your heart out?" She exclaimed and threw her hands in the air. It may seem 'too' dramatic but who could blame the poor girl? She was thrown out by her family when she declined some rich-arse suitor her parents picked out. It wasn't that the young man was ugly both inside and out; he was actually lovable and was a great friend. But that was it, her feelings were completely platonic for the guy. She didn't feel that electric shock when she first met him, first danced with him, first hugged him. They were just plain and simple. Now she was currently living in a flat near her work place and also school. He felt his cheeks heat up from embarrassment. She was right that was a stupid question. What was he thinking? Nonetheless, he shook his head and sat next to her.

"Reality, I guess." He sighed and leaned back slightly, using his arms to hold his upright position. The girl chuckled and wiped her tears with the back of her hand.

"Thanks." She quietly muttered, watching the snow fall at the same watching Chester's reaction from the corner of her eye. He stared at her, confusion written all over his face. She laughed lightly at him. "Don't let me elaborate. Just let it be."

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

She smiled and softly sang along to her favourite song. "You like that too, huh?" Chester chuckled, running his hand through his ginger hair. "Yeah and it kinda fits the moment?" He cocked his head to the side. "Moment?" The young blackette only chuckled and gave a close-eyed smile.

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me,
And just forget the world

Faith didn't know how it all happened. Neither of them do; all they knew was that they wanted to take a break from reality and its cruelty. But the sooner they stayed there, both started to feel something warm in the pit of their stomachs. There was something about this moment right here, right now that brought these two unlikely hearts together. Not that either Chester nor Faith were complaining. As they lay under the night sky, stars in their eyes and galaxies in their hearts they knew this was something new. Chester knew some stranger was going to walk into his life and become a part of it.

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

He just didn't expect it to be her, either way he wanted to know her more. However, as he glanced to where she was he was greeted by the wind. She was gone. She had left, right? I guess sometimes strangers should stay strangers or maybe this part of his life was not over. He had a strong feeling he'd be meeting her again, when the world doesn't seem so lonely, when the magic wasn't so fleeting and chaste. As for now he had to say goodbye to this moment, as he gazed up at the moon he wished with all his heart---his soul to once again meet her along the lines of magical nights and wonderful evenings.

And as he stood up, brushed the snow off and was about to leave, he saw her once again. Her black wavy hair wavering from the breeze, her hazelnut brown jewels capturing the moon's luminescent glow and her slightly flustered cheeks. We all remember that moment where two people were about to kiss, right? That intense moment where two hearts open themselves to the other. That perfect lingering feeling. He slowly walked towards her, eyes meeting each other, palm meeting cheek. This was something from a movie. This was something every girl wished for; the perfect moment before the kiss.

There's a moment between a glance and a kiss where the world stops for the briefest of times and the only thing between them is the anticipation of her lips on his. A moment, so intense it hangs in the air as it pulls them closer. A moment, so perfect that when it comes to an end, they realize; it's only just the beginning. Perhaps this was the fantasy both hearts were looking for. This beautiful moment they created right here. Perhaps this was what they needed all along; the magic that is this moment. But then again there is the slightest possibility this wasn't over. Maybe this was just the start of something amazing in their lives.
