The sweetest sound in any language is one's own name.

-Dale Carnegie

She loved hearing her name escape the lips of the people around her.

The café owner actually told her:

"People come here to see your smile, not the coffee or anything else"

"Is that a problem?" She panicked. "Should I stop smiling? Please don't fire me!"

The elderly manager chuckled and ruffled her hair. "Actually, I think I live longer because of that smile of yours"

Hearing that was music to her ears.

"What would you like to order Sir?"

It was the same question she asked everyone in the café and it was always accompanied with a smile.

But her smile had different meanings.

It was usually a smile of welcome.

But the instant she saw the customer's dark aura, she mustered up her courage and smiled that said:

The world is a dark place because you have a gloomy look on your face.
-No-Face (Coppelion)

She cheered up the moment the customer glanced at her because he smiled back at her like everybody else.

But in her language of smiles, his smile wasn't registered in her knowledge yet.

"I'd like to order your soul please..."

His smile was a sinister one, something that fits someone like him.

"Please don't say it" she begged as beads of tears rolled down her cheeks while her hands covered her ears.

But even if she did block it, his voice infiltrated her mind.

"Catherine Felton"

"Please don't say my name anymore" she mused in her mind.

The sweetest sound in any language is one's own name, that's what they said.

That's what she believed.

But hearing him call her felt like she was a cursed being who should've resigned at her job to escape her fate of crossing paths with him.

His feet clad in boots clapped against the dark hallway floor. The moment lightning scratched the face of the dark clouds, it illuminated the wide smile on his face but what truly shoved the darkness away was the pair of sharp yellow eyes he had that mysteriously glowed.

She felt breathless the moment she saw his boots in her peripheral vision.

He knelt down, not minding the pool of blood staining his black plants.

His fingers felt cold against her chin. Knowing her strength already left her, he gently lifted her chin up to have her look into his eyes filled with mocked pity.

"I like your eyes right now" He spoke with amusement in his eyes. He loved seeing her eyes quivering in fear.

His face started to inch closer to her that she felt his breath against her wet cheeks.

His right cheek brushed against her left cheek as he whispered softly to her ear.

"So, do we have a deal?"
