Dragon's End Chapter 1
Escape
I wish, I wish with all my heart to fly with dragons in a land apart. This phrase was scrawled thousands of times all over the plain white walls of my cell. At first I had tried to keep track of time but days turned into weeks and weeks to months and I soon lost all sense of time. The hard metal door abruptly opened and in came... Emmy. It was hard to decide what was worse, the torture or the times when my dear older sister would come in and beg me to tell her where the dragon scale was hidden.
"Hey Max" she greeted for the entire world like the innocent 7 year old girl who had played with dragons in a separate land.
"Hi Emmy how has the taking over the world been going?" I asked.
"It's going well though I can't seem to remember where the scale is. Care to refresh my memory, Max?" She asks icily.
"They'll find a way through you know. Cassie is brilliant, she'll find away to get me out." I said trusting in my beloved Cassie.
"Oh, Max you're so naïve, you may have won over Cassie but Ord is still on my side and he's stronger; he'll stop her." Emmy said in the more menacing tones of the 17 year old her.
"Wheezie will hold him off." I said holding on to the faith in my fiends.
She laughed and the sound sent chills to my bones. She sounded completely like the cold hearted killer she is. "Zack and Wheezie are long gone. I disposed of them myself in the early days" She replied. My blood ran cold. No it can't be.
Suddenly alarms started blaring, a nameless soldier entered and said "Commander, Cassie has broken into the facility." Emmy turned her dragon scale cloak swirling around her ankles. The cloak had been a gift from Ord when he had thought that any old scale would work to travel between worlds. The cloak itself was black with a chest plate and skirt the color of dried blood underneath.
It wasn't long before the door opened again and more nameless soldiers came in and dropped a pink and red mess on the floor, I recognized it at once. "Cassie" I said crawling over to her and pulling her into my arms. "Cassie are you ok?" I asked franticly. I didn't know much about what can kill a drgaon, but it definetely looks like she lost a lot of blood.
"I'm fine just give me a moment. Dragons heal faster than humans." She told me calmly. A few minutes later Cassie stirred again. "Max I found another scale like the one you and Emmy had but Emmy has it now." She says, sitting upright.
"Oh no, what will we do" I said, a fresh panic setting in.
"We can get back since this isn't my world. All we need to do is say the rhyme and it should work" I grabbed a hold of her arm and together we recited the rhyme we both knew so well.
I wish, I wish, to use this rhyme, to go back home, until next time.
