Vacation month
Cebu City, Philippines.
This story was my first ever encounter with ghouls (aswangs)
They have the taste for sickly people, dead people, virgins, pregnant, babies and toddlers.
My late grandfather (i don't want to mention my grandfather's name.) was suffering from complications and also due to his age.
We were just waiting for his last few days. Our house was located near ayala center mall in Lahug Cebu city.
His last few days was the most hair raising and terrifying experience in my life.
Me, my brother, my two cousins, and our uncle were still awake because we were attending our grandfather's needs like cleaning, bathing him etc.
When all of the sudden we smelled the fragrance of azucena and kalachuchi flower a sweet and enticing smell caught our attention it lingered the smell for one hour.
Until the smell turned worst, it smelled like a rotten cadaver. The putrid smell gave us the creepy and panicky feeling
When there was a strange sound of the bird
It was like a very huge type of bird.
It was so noisy the noise was loud and near but eventually, the noise became so distant and obscure as if the maker of the noise went far away after In a matter minutes there was a thing or someone landed on our roof. And it was screeching
"kikikik! Kikik! Wak wak wak!"
The frightening sound. made us petrified and our grandmother was still asleep
Due to tiredness and exhaustion.
The cawking sound was heard outside the room of my lolo (grandfather) then the roof banged again and we heard an annoying squeaking sound of a metal trying to torn apart made by aswang that kept on scratching our roof.
Baludoy our houseboy used to bystand outside the house.
then all of the sudden, the he shouted. And he said:
"may itim na baboy may itim na baboy! Mapula ang mata at napakalaki! Mahahaba ang tenga!"
He said that there was a very huge black boar with beaming terrifying red eyes with long elongated ears.
Then he quickly locked all the possible entries then the cawking sound "wak wak" was so near to my grandfather's window then i saw its shadow projected against the wall of our neighbor's house.
The aswang was headstrong it always visited our house everynight just to obtain its mission. To abduct my lolo
Then it finally stopped bothering us when our lolo died.
The squeaking sound of scratching roof was nowhere to be found the stench smell and the horrifying event was completely vanished.....
