June 1976
The alarm buzzed. I let out a long groan and stretched my arms up over my head as I do every morning. I look over to my left to see the familiar figure of my boyfriend Paul curled up against me. I smiled to myself as he stirred in his sleep, eyes fluttering open and greeting mine.
"Hey.." He said quietly before yawning. He took a long stretch, his bones cracking in the process.
"Hi there" I smiled, kissing his cheek. He stared at me for awhile, eyes traveling down to my bare shoulders and chest. He flashed a grin, then gave me a kiss that was well worth waking up to. He slinked back down into his usual spot and wrapped his arms around my skinny frame.
"You slept well?" He asked me. I shrugged. It's not unusual that I have a restless night. I always have troubles falling asleep and I get the occasional nightmare. At least I had Paul next to me.
"I dunno. I guess, you?" I said, playing around with his short blonde hair.
"Yeah it was alright." He replied. I glanced over at his alarm clock on the desk by his bed.
10:30. I don't think I had anything to do today.
"Paul are you making me food or what" I said. He gave me a quick glare and got up.
"Ari?" He gave me another look.
"Yes, Simo?" I replied sweetly.
"Fuck off." He laughed. I shrugged and got up with him, searching around his room for my shirt he ended up helping me take off since I was too drunk to fucking do anything last night. Once I found it, I slipped it on and walked out of his room to the kitchen.
Why do I feel like I had something to do today??
"Paul?"
"Hmm."
"Did I have something to do today?" I asked.
"Not that I know of. You want eggs?" He asked, holding up the carton.
"No thanks, just toast please." I said, trying to get the knots out of my hair with my fingers.
"You'd better get that glue out of your hair. Why don't you go get hairspray like a normal person?" Paul said. He set down the carton of eggs and walked over to me, quickly kissing my forehead before getting back to making food.
"Paul, we've had this conversation before. My mum doesn't like the smell of hairspray in the house so she refuses to buy it. That's why I use glue." I said. Paul just shrugged.
"You could just use gel-
"What's the fun in that??" I cut him off.
"I dunno. What did you say you wanted for breakfast again?" He asked.
"Toast!" I laughed. He walked over to the toaster, popped a slice of bread in and waited. He poured himself a glass of water and walked back over to me.
"So when do you want me to drop you home?" He asked. And then it hit me. I was supposed to be home two hours ago. My mum and dad were planning to go to a birthday party and they thought I was home the whole night last night.
"PAUL!" I screamed.
"What?" He jumped.
"I NEED TO GO HOME RIGHT NOW. RIGHT. NOW." I got up and ran to him room and put on the pants I was wearing last night. I heard him groan in the kitchen and he slowly walked back into our room and put on a shirt.
"Alright let's go." He sighed, grabbing his keys. I ran to the front door and headed down the stairs.
"Wait a second, Ari you forgot your shoes!" Paul yelled to me as he was locking up the door to his flat.
"Ah fuck shoes!" I yelled back as I raced to the car. I grunted as I felt a piece of something go into my foot as I was running. Maybe I did need my shoes after all.
