Tobey's New Father

Mom has a Friend

Hey Readers,

So, I've been reading some fanfiction lately(WordGirl of course) and I thought it was really cute when Tobey and Dr. Two Brains had...father/son moments. So, for my entertainment,(and hopefully yours) I present to you.....*drum roll*.....TOBEY'S NEW FATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Tobey, I really hope you like this guy. I know I do. This means a lot to me, that you're okay with meeting him. It reassures me that you're okay with me dating. Thank you." Tobey's mother told him, hugging him close. Tobey started to cry at the thought of his mother dating. He pulled away from her and didn't let her see his face, "I have to go to the bathroom." Tobey said starting to climb the stairs. "Okay, honey. I'll call you when he gets here." She said, busying herself in the kitchen.

When Tobey got upstairs he ran to the bathroom and shut the door behind him. He wiped his eyes, but it was no use. The tears kept coming. He started to ball. His mom had been so much happier these last few weeks, but did he have to get dragged into it. When someone wants their children to meet their boyfriends, it means they want to take it farther. They'll want to get married. How can she do that? He didn't need a father. He didn't want a father. He wasn't ready for a father. Honestly, he didn't even know what a father was. He heard the doorbell ring.

"Tobey! Steve's here!" His mother called up the stairs, excitedly. Tobey stopped his crying and splashed his face with water to fade the red on his face, then he went down the stairs, but before he came into sight of the kitchen he heard his mother laughing at a joke that was probably made by Steve. Tobey hadn't heard his mother laugh in a while. She was so happy. He was going to make this work. He wasn't going to make a big deal out of it. He was going to let his mother be happy for once.

Tobey stepped into the kitchen and was overwhelmed with a very strange smell and found a familiar face staring back at him.

"You're my mom's boyfriend!?" "You're Claire's son!?" These two questions were shouted from two separate sides of the room. Claire was surprised, "You two know each other?" She asked stopping the shouts. Tobey couldn't speak, so a very well dressed Dr. Two Brains(Steve) spoke, "I...have...subbed for his class before." Tobey gave him a confused look and Two Brains gave him a look that said, 'don't tell her'. Tobey sighed and agreed with him. "Oh, really? What a coincidence." Tobey's mom said, happy that Tobey knew Steve. Claire, wanting to leave the boys alone to talk, said, "Well, I'm sorry, boys. But I really need to use the bathroom. You two can get to know each other a bit more." She walked out of the room.

"How did you not know she was my mother?" Tobey asked with wide eyes sitting next to Two Brains at the table. "Look, kid, I didn't exactly plan this. But I think we both agree we don't want the rest of the Villain's League knowing about this, right?" Two Brains said, nervously. Tobey hadn't actually done anything with the Villain League for over three years, but he was still in contact with some of them and it would be embarrassing. He agreed. "Where did you guys even meet?" He asked, confused. Two Brains fidgeted a bit in his seat. Tobey smiled, "Where did you meet?", he said in a teasing voice. Two Brains mumbled something. "What was that?" Tobey asked, starting to chuckle. Two Brains glared at him with a look that told Tobey he hated him. Tobey started laughing, but calmed down quick enough to hear Two Brains say, "Jury duty." Tobey burst into laughter. Two Brains scowled at him, "I don't see how this is funny." Two Brains shouted over Tobey's laughter. Tobey grabbed Two Brains to hold himself up, "Hey, what are you doing? This isn't fun--HAHAHAHAH" Two Brains began to laugh in an obviously fake way because Tobey's mom walked in.

"You boys look like you had fun." Claire said, smiling and stopping the boys mid laugh. They both sat up straight and Two Brains said, "Yes. Tobey is an adorable boy. I can't wait to get to know him more." Tobey gave him a side glare when he was called 'adorable', but let Two Brains continue. Tobey watched his mother giggle at this and wanted to talk to Two Brains alone again. His mother was the most important person in his life, he didn't want her to get hurt again. He hoped Two Brains wasn't using her for some evil scheme.

Claire must have known his son very well because at that moment she said, "Tobey, why don't you show Steve the rest of the house. It will be a while still before dinner is ready." Before Two Brains could say anything against it Tobey had grabbed his hand and pulled him away excitedly saying, "Okay, mom. Take your time. I'll show Dr--I mean...Steve the house." Two Brains gave him a strange look and followed behind him. The moment he was out of Claire's sight he pulled out of Tobey's surprisingly strong grip. "What was that about? Why are so excited about showing me the house?" He asked, rubbing his hand. "I'm not showing you the house." Tobey said, giving Two Brains a 'no duh' look. "I need to tell you something and I don't want mom to hear." He finished glaring at Two Brains. Two Brains gave him a disgusted look and said, "What is it?"

Tobey sighed. How would he phrase this. He glared up at Two Brains and said,"If you are using her for one of your stupid cheese heists or you hurt her in anyway--" "Whoa! Whoa! Kid, are you worried about me using Claire?" Two Brains interrupted, almost laughing. Tobey looked up at him surprised, "Yes. I don't see how this is funny." He said, offended. Two Brains stopped laughing immediately and put his hand on Tobey's shoulder and said, "Tobey, I would never use Claire--I mean your mother. Tobey, I really do love her. And I promise you, with all my heart, I will never ever hurt her the way your father hurt her." He realized he had said something wrong when Tobey gave him look of serious pain, "What did I do wrong?" He asked, quickly removing his hand from his shoulder. Tobey looked like he was about to cry. He asked, his voice cracking, "Mom told you about Dad?"

Two Brains cursed and closed his eyes, saying to himself, "He doesn't know about his father!" Two Brains looked down at the blond boy. Tobey felt a tear run down his cheek and he turned around trying to hide it. "Mom never told me what happened to Dad. She always avoided the question and I learned not to ask." Tobey said, tears flooding his face. "Tobey, I really don't think I'm someone who can tell you this." Two Brains said, putting his hand on Tobey's shoulder. Tobey sniffed and turned to look at him. Was he crying? Two Brains never thought he would have seen that little villain cry. He always seemed so strong. He put his arm around Tobey's shoulders and lead him to the kitchen, "Let's ask your mother about this."

This is where I'm supposed to tell you when I will normally update my story, but I can't do that because I don't know when I will update my story. Even though Summer is coming soon so that might give me more time, but my parents might start to restrict my time on the computer more this Summer. So, very unpredictable.

Hopefully I will be able to update soon.
