I sat quietly, allowing my legs to dangle over the side of the building while I listened in on the conversation my targets were having. I could see two of them from my vantage point. One with curly brown hair, that’d be Harry. The other one shorter and spikier brown hair, Louis most likely. That meant three others would be wandering around near by. Meaning I had to be on high alert so they couldn’t possibly sneak up on me.

I had to admit, I felt bad listening in on them like this. It had been too easy really. They’d let their guard down so much and so easily. And that had made it so I barely had to do anything in this job. It was almost like they wanted me to hear them… shit.

I was obviously being played. The fact that it had taken me this long to figure it out wasn’t good. It meant I’d most likely let my guard down more than I should have. Which meant I could’ve missed vital signs that could massively affect my current mission.

I quickly stood up and took a step back, turning my head in each direction to scan my surroundings as thoroughly and quickly as possible. I didn’t see anything in particular that set off red flags for me. But seeing wasn’t always the most important aspect of checking your surrounds. Sometimes is was the sounds or even smells around you.

And my nose managed to pick up the slightest hint of mint in the air. It was drifting towards me from the right. I pulled my gun out and immediately pointed it directly in the direction of the smell’s origination, turning my head and expecting to see someone there.

“That was a good try love.”

I turned and saw a boy with dark, spiked up hair and brown eyes, Zayn, staring at me with a smirk on his face while pointing his own gun at me. How had he… the smell though… they’d tricked me. “But not quite good enough.”

I gasped as I was suddenly grabbed from behind. I looked back and saw that the person holding me was a blond boy with blue eyes and rather cheeky grin on his face, Niall. He usually wasn’t quite this stealthy.

“But… the mint…” I said, becoming slightly confused to how they’d pulled this off.

“Oh? Would you like some of it?” Zayn asked, snapping his fingers.

The third missing member of their party, a boy with shorter brown hair and brown eyes, Liam, came out hiding. He was grinning as he walked towards me with a new piece of gum. “Here you go. We’ve got plenty to share,” he said, placing the gum in my now agape mouth.

“Color me impressed…” I muttered, knowing I’d been caught.

The mission was botched and I’d failed to realize their ploy of having one of them chew gum while the others had snuck about. They’d outdone themselves. Hell, they’d honestly outdone me. It was a shocking turn of events.

“Alright. You’ve caught me. Training for the day’s done,” I said, shaking the blond off of me and chewing my newly acquired gum. Spearmint. Very nice.

The boys, all five of the cheeky bastards, smirked. They seemed to think that just because they’d gotten the best of me this one time that they were actually good. “Don’t get too cocky. The lot of you can’t rely on one trick for every mission. If it had been more than just me up against you, you’d have been in a world of trouble once you started revealing your locations.”

Liam, whom was still chewing his gum, frowned slightly. He seemed to actually consider my words while the others just shrugged my warning off. Fine. The lot of them could get caught and be tortured for information for all I cared.

I sighed, beginning to head out of the training room. I had to get changed. I’d be going off with my usual partners for a real mission soon enough. And that mission required us to blend in. To look the part of those who were actually invited to the party we were infiltrating. And that meant I actually had to look fancy and proper.
