A/N: AHHHHHHH!!!!! I GOT 2 READS!!!! I know i know... I shouldn't be freaking out but i am because it happened in like 2 hours!!! SO THANK YOU WHOEVER READ MY BOOK!!!!! I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART!!!!!!! Anyway... the two reads got me so excited I just had to write another chapter. So here you go.... Enjoy
The eyes disappeared just as fast as I had seen them. I couldn’t help but wonder who or what was in that room watching me. I was a little uneasy about it but brushed it off thinking it was just my eyes playing tricks on me. I just left it at that. I went to sleep thinking about him. I silently scolded myself for it. I barely even knew him, so why in the world would I be thinking about him. Ugh… life is too complicated.
The next morning I took less time to get ready for school so I could look into what I thought I saw. I just stood there at my window watching and waiting for someone to walk by or something, but nothing did. My mom called me from the kitchen, “Courtney! You have to go to school now or you’re going to be late.” I silently cursed and ran down the stairs. I got to school and met up with Kate and Sophie. Boy did I have a lot to tell them about the window and all that. Sophie consoled me saying it was probably just a trick of the eye or something but unfortunately Kate butted in and said, “Courtney you do know that Bryce lives in the house next to you, right?” Well duh, of course I didn’t. I just moved here like 4 days ago. I really don’t know where anyone lives. “I knew I saw green eyes. But why would Bryce be spying on me from next door? That’s a little stalkerish don’t you think?” I asked nervously. “Of course it’s creepy. But Bryce Parker lives next to you. I’m definitely coming over more often,” Sophie and Kate said together. I swear, sometimes I think they share the same brain. I decided I would confront
Bryce in art and demand to know why he was spying on me.
Finally art came around but he wasn’t there. Well maybe he was but he wasn’t behind me and the girls like he usually was. “Hey Chloe… do you know where Bryce is? I haven’t seen him all day.” “I don’t understand why you would want to. He’s a jerk and an ass.” “Uhhhh… ok then. Why do you hate him so much?” “Long story Courtney. I’ll tell you some other time.” “Okay. My house. After school. Be there or be square girls,” I said eagerly. I had to practically run to keep up with Chloe as we were on our way to chemistry. “Chloe! Slow down… I can hardly keep up.” “That’s the point,” she said under her breath. “Chloe Marie Evans! I heard that. What did I do? Tell me,” I demanded to know. “Nothing. Nothing at all Courtney.” “Fine then… be that way grumpy pants,” I replied coldly as we walked into the chemistry room. She walked over to her partner and as I walked to my seat I saw someone I never thought I would see again… that’s right. You guessed it. It was Bryce Parker… in the flesh. He walked up to me and said with a blank look on his face, “Mr. Bradford says I still have to be your partner.” “Do you have a problem working with me Bryce,” I asked absently. “Well no, not really. You seem like a nice person in all but…” I cut him off. “Why are you spying on me from next door? Don’t you think that’s a little creepy and that it will scare me? What kind of a person does that? It’s just sick,” I snapped angrily. “Uhhhh… I don’t… know what you’re talking about Courtney,” he lied hopelessly. “You lie,” I retorted. “Did you just quote Romeo and Juliet,” he inquired curiously. “Maybe, but that isn’t any of your business,” I whisper-yelled as I was walking away. He started to say something but I couldn’t hear him, I already put my earbuds in and
tuned him out. I could hear my name being called faintly, but I wasn’t going to turn around and give Bryce the satisfaction of seeing me almost in tears.
I rushed to get out of the room before the tears started flowing. I knew that if I started to cry I wouldn’t be able to make them stop. I ran to the bathroom and started to stare into the mirror when I heard the door open. “Courtney? Are you in hear,” Chloe said thoughtfully. “No. I’m not. Go away.” “ ‘C’ are you okay? Did Bryce hurt you?” “No but he did one better… he’s been spying on me. Creepy… I know.” “That son of a… never mind.” “Haha… I know. Let’s just go back to chem... Oh did I mention that Mr. Bradford is still making us be partners? Wish me luck Clo.” “Good luck ‘C.’ You’re gonna need it.”
I ended up walking home that day because I missed the bus. I popped in my earbuds and started to walk. I’m glad I decided to wear shorts and my converse today. It was so much easier to walk not wearing sandals. (my usual pair of shoes) I walked past Bryce’s house and turned into my own getting the key out of my bag. I felt someone’s arm link around my neck and put me in a chokehold. “Drop the key and step aside and you won’t get hurt,” a husky voice ordered. I was scared out of my wits but I was happy that my dad had forced me and my sister to take self defense classes over the summer last year. “Not a chance,” I screamed in defiance. I brought my foot back and slammed it into his thigh causing him to let go of my neck. I then proceeded to turn around and punch him in the stomach making him double over in pain. “Bryce? What the hell! I could have killed you!” I said angrily. “Wow tough little cookie. I like,” he said in his usual cocky tone. “Go
away Bryce. We both know that we hate each other and that I could beat you up if I had to, so go away.” “And if I don’t?” “You don’t wanna know,” I said mischievously. “Okay, Princess. Whatever you say,” he smiled back. “Princess? Really? Don’t call me that. I’m not your princess and I never will be.” “Aw… don’t be like that ‘C.’ I was just coming up with a nickname.” “Don’t call me ‘C’ either. Only the girls can call me that.” “Then what do you want me to call you?” “You can call me by my name. Which is Courtney if you don’t remember,” I said snottily. “Fine… Courtney Nicole Jordan.” Ugh how did he know my middle name? Seriously, where did he get all this stuff about me? “How did you know my middle name?” “Ummmm… well… school roster,” he answered sheepishly. “Uh huh… what else do you know?” “Nothing… I swear.” “Okay… I believe you.” “You do?” “Of course. You’ve given me no reason not to. Unless I count that pretending to be a serial killer or something.” “No… no. That’s ok. You don’t need to count that.” “Okay.” “Friends?” “Sure. Why not? It couldn’t hurt.” “Great.”
A/N: So sorry about the chapter being slow… I promise I’ll try to make the next chapter better with more action and stuff but just bear with me for now. Please and thank you. Please comment or do whatever. PM me if you have ideas. Uhhhh… I think that’s it. Thanks for reading… It means a lot. I’ll be starting school in a few weeks so I won’t be able to post very often… Sorry my lovelies. Bye now. XOXOXO, Taylor
