"How many views now?" I asked anxiously.
"Only thirty seven," Robyn sighed as she looked up from my phone. That caused me to sigh.
"Damnit," I groaned.
"Don't worry honey. Not everyone gets popular instantly. But you'll get there soon enough," she gave me a smile of encouragement.
"Thanks Robyn. That's why you're my best friend," I pinched her cheek & smiled.
"I'll see ya tomorrow alright kid, don't get too stressed. We'll have a lit time tomorrow," she patted my head.
"Oh yeah I even forgot about tomorrow," I gasped, "it's Friday right?"
"Yep," she smirked.
"Times Square right?" I asked again.
"Yep," she replied.
She gave me a little wave & began walking up her driveway. I continued walking to my house which was just a few blocks away. All these thoughts were pounding against my skull
It'll get views
But it's your fifth video how can you still be unlucky
Just have hope
Stop worrying
& that's when my mind came to a still because I tripped over my next door neighbour's skateboard.
"Shit," I cursed out loud as I tried to gain balance. I walked up to my front porch & opened my front door.
"Mom I'm home," I yelled as I walked to the couch. I closed my eyes & fell backwards on the long couch & when I opened my eyes I saw my mom with three other guys in suits. Looked like they were having a meeting.
"Oh," I sat up straight immediately, "I'm sorry. I'll head up to my room."
"No sweetie. Sit down," my mom said.
"We're actually here for you Miss Kesting," the smallest man in a suit said.
"Oh okay," I said in confusion & sat down.
"Now I believe you run a YouTube channel yes?" the man asked.
"Yes, but it's still in the works. It's not as successful as I hoped. Am I in trouble?" I questioned anxiously.
"No we're just here on business ma'am," the buff guy in a suit with black aviators said to me. Nobody's ever called me "ma'am" before.
"We're from Alliance Records. I don't believe you've heard of us. We're new," the small man explained. I shook my head like a little kid.
"One of our scouts saw your videos of you doing a cover by one of our newest artists. The scout brought it to us & well, we like your voice. Something different. But we believe you haven't reached your full potential," he explained. I just kept nodding in understanding even though I was really nervous.
"We asking you, Miss Kesting, if you would like to be signed to our record label & come work with us," the man finally proposed. I paused in shock.
Oh my god
I just got discovered!
Is this even real?
Don't pinch yourself in front of them you'll look stupid!
Oh my god say yes!
But wait- parents.
"I would love to but I'm not so sure if my parents are onboard," I uttered.
"Honey I know you're only sixteen but I've been waiting for this day. Especially since I know how much this means to you," my mom smiled.
"But what about dad?" I asked.
"I called him earlier. He wasn't so thrilled but he said if you want it then go for it because he doesn't want to stand in the way of your dreams," she smiled wider.
"Thanks mom," I smiled back. The man slid the papers on the table towards me.
"Now we just need you to sign these papers & we're good," he said.
"Don't I have to read it first?" I asked.
"I already read it for you honey, even the fine print & everything is taken care of. Education. Visit times. Everything," she said.
"For now it's not a full time thing but we will have you in the studio just getting started on a demo," he explained.
With that, I signed the contract & the men stood up & left for the door.
"Miss Kesting your first session starts next week Friday. We will come to get you from your house at noon sharp," he said & with that, they left. I started screaming & jumping around & my mom joined in too.
One thing was just running through my head
I've just been signed to a record label. Dreams do come true.
