 Danni’s P.O.V

We’re standing outside waiting for them to open the flippin’ door. It’s cold and rainy. Buuut, we have had so much fun. It’s Halloween and the group and I are trick or treating. Lexi, Maya, Luna, Judy, Cat, April, Jessica and me. It’s been brill but we’ve been standing outside this house for aaaaages!! Its sooo cold!

“It’s not like they aren’t home!” Cat says, whilst rubbing her arms to keep warm, “We can hear the TV!”

Maya starts yelling! – “OPEN THE FRICKIN DOOR!! IT’S FREEZING! YOU KNOW WE ARE HERE AND WE KNOW YOU ARE THERE! GET INTO THE HALLOWEEN SPIRIT!” she stops to draw breath and turns to us... “Oh. My. Glob!” I look at Lexi trying not to catch her eye; it’s too late she catches my eye grins and starts to laugh!! We all start laughing, clutching our sides April is practically crying with laughter.

‘…you can’t just yell that!’ I say, ‘poor people! What if th-…oh shit someone is coming to the door, run!’

We leg it, Luna streaking ahead of us with Maya and April right on her tail, the rest of us in a clump pretty much.

“Where are we going?” Judy pants.

“Park” me and Lexi puff in unison. I can see the play equipment in the distance shrouded in darkness but rather there than getting yelled at. I see Maya, Luna and April already scrabbling over the park fence and Lexi vaults over and turns round just as I climb over. I look around at their flushed faces and here them panting from the run in the dark, cold, damp air. At least it stopped raining…for now.

Judy’s P.O.V

We all stay silent catching our breath until-

“That was fun…lets totally NOT do I again!” Lexi breaks the silence. I look at her and laugh.

“Indeed” I hear someone, April I think, mutter.

Maya grins around at us all. Probably finding it hilarious we just got chased down the street. Even though no-one, actually followed us…awkward. We must have looked so stupid running away from nothing! Oh well it was fun.

“Hey, I think we should call the others and see if they wanna come back to mine like we suggested before,” I give a shrug at Danni’s suggestion.

“Your choice I don’t mind really, are your parents going to mind?” I ask her.

“Naaa she told us they were going out tonight to a Halloween party at Hermione’s mates, remember” offers Luna. I look around thinking; look down at my candy bag then at the others,

“I think we should call it a night anyway we have enough candy to feed an army so we could just go home yeah…” I trail off looking questioningly at the others. There is the general murmur of assent.

“Okay then let’s go back to yours and call them from there.” I say, everyone agrees, but as we head back I notice Lexi frowning and holding the side of her head. I walk over to her and ask her quietly-

“You alright Lex?” she jumps and looks at me startled; she obviously didn’t think anyone had noticed.

“Yeah," she says, "I’m fine it’s just a headache…really…nothing…candy overload probably!” she forces a smile. I frown.

“You hardly touched your candy Lexi what’s really wrong?” she pauses listening to the others talking.

“Nothing I’m fine just leave it okay?”

“Lexi you ca-“

“JUST DROP IT JUDY!!!!” Everyone looks at Lexi shocked. “Sorry I’m fine honestly… sorry.” She hurries on ahead of us to walk with April glancing anxiously behind at me. Cat and Maya sidle over too me looking worried and startled.

“What was that all about?” mutters Maya

“I don’t know really I was trying to make sure she was alright and she exploded. I don’t understand!”

“Yeah I’ve noticed she’s been a bit funny tonight…A bit…” Maya pauses searching for a word as we turn into Pittarach Avenue.

“Distracted” Cat replies. Looking over to where Lexi is standing with the others looking absent and far off.

“Well I’m sure it’s nothing” says Cat hesitantly glancing at me.

“Yeah let’s just have fun” Maya adds, “its Halloween!!” and she bowls over to the others.

“You aren’t gonna let this drop are you?” Cat asks.

“Nope, coz I know Lexi and this isn’t like her…”
