Amy brushed her hair staring at the mirror while Cara sits on the zebra pattern bean bag reading a magazine about sports. " You really need to learn how to just chill. It will help you in the future you know. " Amy said while searching for one of her hair ties. " And that's why you should go to this party!! You need to have fun and get loose once in a while. Even Brendan is going to the party, and he is the last person I would think of as a partier. "

Cara put down her magazine and moved to Amy's bed. " I don't know. Partying isn't really my thing. It would be different if there was a sport involved though! "

Amy found a hot pink hair tie and put her hair into a high ponytail. " There is going to be beer pong. That's a game!! " Cara smirked and rolled her eyes. " I'm pretty sure beer pong doesn't classify as a sport. "

" Well it's pretty close. "

" They are the absolute opposites. "

" Oh really? They both have a lot of people who enjoy it, most sports involve balls, and you can die from both of them! "

Cara laughed. " I don't think you should repeat the last one! "Cara stood up and walked over to the dresser across from the bed. She hit the home screen and saw that she got a text from Brendan.

Brendan
Hey!! You weren't in chemistry. Are you ok?

Cara smiled to herself.

Hey :) I'm fine. I just had a mental breakdown. I'm fine now though.

Brendan
Mental breakdown? What's wrong?

I kind of embarrassed myself in front of Toby, but I'm feeling better now!!

Brendan
Well I'm glad your ok!! Plus, I was hoping if we could talk about something later. Alone. It's kind of important.

Brendan wants to tell her something private? Her eyebrows furrowed. What does he want to talk to her about? She just decided to text him a quick ok.

Cara put her phone in her pocket and laid back down on the bed. Amy repositioned herself and placed her feet on Cara's flat stomach. " Who were you texting? " Amy asked before blowing a bubble with her gum.

Cara took a deep breathe then replied, " Just Brendan. " Amy then sat up. " You were texting Brendan? What about? " Cara shrugged.

" He just wanted to know if I was ok, because he didn't see me in chemistry." Amy smiled. " He definitely likes you."

" He does not like me!! Why does everybody keep saying that?! We are just friends, and he feels the same. "Amy just sighed. After a while she finally spoke. " I think you two would make a really cute couple! "

Cara could feel her cheeks blush. " I don't know what your talking about. We would look weird together. "

" How come? You both are cute and smart!! Plus, you two have a lot in common. "

She had a point there. Cara and Brendan have been friends since first grade. They used to be really close, but they kind of drifted apart a while back. He just started acting strange and quit around her. Cara just thought it was puberty. They became friends when Brendan let Cara borrow his skin colored crayon, because she couldn't find one in her crayon box. After that they just started talking and their friendship just happened.

" I just don't see us together. I think it would be really awkward and uncomfortable. " Cara answered while pushing Amy's feet off of her.

" I think you should consider it. He seems to really like you! " Amy said putting her feet back on Cara.

Cara actually didn't mind seeing her and Brendan together. Whenever she pictured it, her stomach did flips and she would always end up smiling. When she was in fifth grade, she actually had a little crush on Brendan. She would write him little notes and stuff them in his backpack. At the end of her notes, she would always put from your secret admirer. She finally stopped after he caught her putting it in one of his notebooks.

Cara looked over at Amy's fancy clock that hung above her bed. School was almost over, and if she wasn't home soon, then she would be in deep doo doo. " Well, guess it's time to go."

Amy groaned as Cara stood up. " Just text your mom and tell her your going to be here for a while! " Cara put her shoes on. " I can't, I have volleyball practice tonight. Plus my mom says that I spend to much time with my friends. "Amy rolled her eyes. " Just skip practice. You will have more fun here anyway. "

" I can't skip practice. "

" Why not? "

" If I skip a practice, that means I can't play in the game that's coming up. "

" Why not? "

" Is that all you say? "

" Why not? I'm just joking. "

Cara rolled her eyes with a small grin. " I need at least ten practices if I want to play in the game. "

Amy scrunched up her nose. " That's stupid. " Cara laughed. " I strongly agree, but it's the rules. " Cara shrugged picking up her backpack.

" Well your big booty can't come over tomorrow, because my mom's boyfriend is coming over for a 'date', so just warning you now. "

Cara smiled. " Ok, but I'm taking your car, so see you tomorrow! " and with Cara picked up Amy's car keys, which had a little key chain that had a photo of them together in a little glass frame, and ran downstairs. She opened the door and ran to the car unlocking it. She hopped into the car and started the engine. Before she left, she looked up at Amy's room window to see her giving the finger. Cara the drove away with her finger out the window.
