"Her name is Noel, I had a dream about her."
I woke with a start to my mom screaming my name from down stairs. I shove a pillow to my face and groan, Mondays suck. I remember my and begin to smirk as I groggily rise from bed. I slowly sit up and rub my eyes, as they haven't adjusted to the light of the day yet. Walking over to my closet, I trip over the sock heap that I'd forgotten to pick up and stumble around for a bit trying to find my balance, It's way too early for this.
I quickly throw on a band tee, flannel, jeans, and black converse, my usual outfit for a usual day. I glance down to see my shirt is an Iron Maiden shirt, my favorite band. I almost got tickets to one of their concerts, but they quickly sold out, and I was left empty handed. I then run a comb a few times through my hair, my hair is a dark brown that can sometimes be mistaken for black, and I have bright blue eyes that I think I get from my mom.
"Hayden! You're going to be late, get down here Mister!" That's the sound of the wild mother in it's natural habitat. It's best not to anger the wild mother or else it becomes aggressive, so I head down stairs.
"Hayden, you can't be late again, it'll be the fourth time this month! Make some breakfast quickly, grab your backpack and start walking, I have to bring Catherine to a doctor's appointment."
I nod and pop some toast into the toast and quickly butter it, stuffing it into my mouth.
"Bye Mom, Bye Catherine!" I exclaim as I throw my backpack over my shoulder and walk out of the door, putting my earbuds in and hitting shuffle on my, 'School Walk' playlist, which consists of bands such as Blink 182, New Found Glory, and other bands. I walk peacefully, looking around at the flowers and trees that litter the pathway in the early days of spring.
As I walk my usual route I feel a tap on my shoulder, making me jump and knock out one of my earbuds, sending me spiraling into reality. I turn quickly, prepared to defend myself as I see my best friend Lacey doubled over in a fit of laughter. She's always called me jumpy, which I suppose I am.
Lacey has the same music taste as I do, mostly, as she listens to more alternative bands such as Coldplay, The Fray, and Weezer. She dyes her hair but it oddly always stays healthy and always looks good. She's wearing a simple, black sweat shirt that hugs her curves, with a white tank top underneath. She's wearing black jeans with rips near the knees and thighs with black toms. She usually wears simple things, but she says that she should keep it simple, her currently lilac colored hair tended to snag all the attention.
We walk together and I remember my dream, bouncing up suddenly and I grabbed her arm in order to make us walk slower. She stiffened at my touch so I quickly let go and simply asked if we could slow down so I could tell her of my dream.
"Hey Lace, I had a dream last night and Noel was in it, can I tell you about it?"
Lace is Lacey's nickname but she hates it when anyone but me calls her it. Lace rolled her eyes at me, I've always liked Noel and she thinks I'm an idiot for it, Noel doesn't even know of my existence it seems, but I'd like to think that Lacey is wrong, even though I know she's completely right. I brush off the disappointed gaze that she's giving me and I continue to tell her my dream.
"I was walking alone at night it a park that was filled with flowers that glowed, it was so cool! I picked a flower and it stopped glowing, I felt an immediate wave of dread fall over me because I realized I killed it, but I looked down to see stairs where the flower was. Out of curiousity I went down the stairs and it was completely dark. I looked up and a light shone out of the dark, a blinding light. I saw Noel in all her glory-"
"All her glory? You're making her sound like a god." mumbled Lacey, arms crossed over her chest and a pout on her lips. I nudged her shoulder, "Will you let me finish?"
Lace sighed deeply and nodded, making me continue, "I saw her blonde hair illuminated, she was wearing a dress made of all the picked flowers, but the flowers continued to grow as if she were their life source, her beauty created theirs. She looked at me and her eyes were glowing a lilac purple, and she smiled at me, then pulled me in for a kiss, but then I woke up."
Lace looked at me and then started to smile mischievously. We were walking into the gates of school, everyone was outside waiting to enter on first bell and she exclaimed, "Oh Noel, with your beautiful eyes, shall I compare thee to a summer's d-" I quickly clamped my hand over her mouth and dragged her behind a tree, feeling her trying to lick my hand in an attempt to make me grossed out and let her escape. Great, people were staring, I love life.
"You're evil."
She smirked at me and agreed, and with that the first bell rang, making me jump. Lace snorted as she tried to suppress a laugh, and we went inside, not ready for the day ahead.
"What class do you have first?"
I try to recall and then groan at the memory, "Algebra."
We both looked at each other and sighed, we had to part ways at this point, as we only had Art class, English, and History together.
"You ready?" I ask Lace, as I always do when we enter school.
"Never am." Lace responds as she walks to her first class.
