Ephemeral

Maganda ang araw ngayon. Just a typical day. Nasa bench akong nakaupo kasama ang bestfriend ko. We are sharing my earphones. She was reading a book and so am I, while we are listening through my ipod.

Tinanggal ko ang earbuds na nasa tenga niya. "Yah. Paborito ko iyong kanta. Ibalik mo sakin yan." sabi niya sabay tingin sa akin ng masama.

I didn't responded. I am flustered pagkakita ko sa crush ko na dumating. She's just simply beautiful. Everything about her is perfect. The way she smiles sends a gazzilion bolts to me.

My bestfriend followed my gaze. "Ano ka ba. Matutunaw yan sa kakatingin mo. I can't still believe you removed the earbuds though."

I shot her a glare and she just pouts.

"Tumahimik ka muna. Baka makita pa niya tayo sharing the same earphones akalain niya girlfriend kita."

"Eh hindi ka naman mapapansin nun kung hindi mo lalapitan."

Natahimik lang ako sa sinabi niya. She's right. Yeah, I'm a coward. I don't have the guts to talk to the Goddess. 

"Aisshhh. Believe me. Walang magagawa ang kakatingin mo sakanya. Siguro hindi pa niya alam na nag-eexist ka sa world. Take this advice from a woman like me. Make a move or you'll regret it one day."

Again, I am at my lowest self-esteem. Hindi ko lang talaga alam kung paano ko siya i-aaproach.

"Gawin mo na kasi. Or you want me to help you out? I'm a girl so i know specifically what we, girls want."

"Pfffttt. Ikaw? HAHAHAHA. Babae?" natawa na lang ako sakanya.

"Yah! What's that for? You.are.not.laughing at me, you idiot! Bahala ka kung ayaw mo ng tulong."

"It's okay. Even though I really like her. Kahit naman lapitan ko pa siya wala rin namang mangyayari. She's not the type to fall for me."  I smiled bitterly.

"You're so pathetic. Alam mo sayang ang utak mo, magaling ka pa naman. Para-paraan lang yan noh."

"Says the one na wala pang manliligaw." She rolled her eyes.

"Eh kahit naman may manliligaw ako I won't fall for low-lives creatures."

"See? Kahit nga ako hindi papasa sa standards mo. Siya pa kaya?"

"Hey. That's not what I meant..."

Bago pa siya nakasagot tumayo na ako at in-arrange ang mga libro ko sa bag. Guilt was all over her face.

"You're not coming? Let's eat."  her features brighten up. She smiles and hurriedly pack her things.

I took one last glance at my crush. Masaya itong nakikipag-usap sa mga kaibigan niya. Hanggang tingin lang siguro ako.

"Hindi ka galit sa akin?"My reverie was broken by my silly friend.

"Not if ilibre mo ako ngayon."  I raised an eyebrow.

"Not fair. Can you be a gentleman for once, please." 

"You're not a lady too yourself."

And then the daily arguments went on and on. That's how my life has been until... naging classmate ko ang long-time crush ko the next sem.

Back then.

At the first day of second sem. 

"It's too bad, we won't be classmates for math."  my friend heaved a deep sigh.
