Every Story Has A Beginning

My story starts with a rather sad beginning. An innocent baby girl, by herself, in the woods. Her parents abandoned her, with the hopes of her dying. But if all that happened and the girl died, then I wouldn't be here.

My name is Luxen Molli and this is my story.

Katie's p.o.v

Everything was eerily quiet. No animals, no wind and no other sound than my slow breathing. As if the woods were preparing for something. For me to pay attention. That I could hear something. But what was that something?

By this time I would have catched something already. A deer, cougar, rabbit. Something. But all the animals have left or are hiding from something. Not from me, they didn't have the chance to hear or smell me. But from something. Yet again. What is this something?

This something must be pretty powerful, for the whole forest to be quiet, even the winds. I am no ordinary human. I know about the Old Gods and I respect them. This must be a sign from them. Because from all my 22 years of living I have never heard a forest, that would be empty from all kinds of sound.

I could even dare to say, that my breathing was the only thing you could hear for miles. We were far from the city. This was one of the un-touched areas, where animals would run freely and I could hunt the without questions. I have been teached from young age to survive in the nature and to respect it. And the Old Gods are one of the things I learned and respect. Without them the nature would be off-balanced and out of control.

As time passed, I grew more irritated. How long will this last!? I'm hungry and need something on my plate.

As on clue I hear from the distance a cougar's hiss. To stranger's mouth it's meat would taste rather strangely, but for me it's what makes your tummy full.

As I move closer, the snow covering my tracks, the forest becomes more darker and colder. It gave me chills and I knew something bad is going to happen, if I don't find the cougar in time. I start to run and soon enough there is a cougar, stalking it's prey. But it's not the cougar that gets my attention. It's the prey.

A baby.

Oh no.

I act on instinct, as the cougar starts to leap in the air. I pull my bow and unleash the arrow, right trough the cougar's heart. And second later it falls to the ground, dead.

I run to them, to check if the baby's alright. And soon enough there she is. Sleeping peacefully, as if a cougar didn't try to kill her and make her it's meal. I can tell, that she's a girl, by the long black hair that's cascading 'till the baby's shoulders. Her lashes are so long, that it seems almost unnatural. She doesn't look much older than couple of days, so it's impossible for her to have so long hair. Her features are best described as angel-like, high cheekbones, rosy cheeks and nose, ruby red lips. She resembled a goddess. It's all weird. She didn't cry. She's peacefully asleep. She is in the middle of the forest, wrapped only in a towel. Lying in snow. And she isn't cold. She seems to breath normally.

How did this amazing little girl pop out in the middle of the forest, didn't die, is still alive, breathing and has so freakishly long hair?

As if on cue, the baby opens her eyes. The eyes of perfection. The eyes of a goddess. The electric blue eyes. Literally. I couldn't breath. Those eyes are the eyes that captured my heart, body and soul.

And in that moment I came to a conclusion. She will be my everything, my daughter, best friend and sister. And I will protect her.

If something happens to her, I will never forgive myself.

She is my meaning of life.
