Leaving

Blood. My body is covered. Pain. My mind is full. There is a bullet in my chest. It- It hurts. I can't tell why but I'm relieved. To leave this desolate world. To become a soulless object. To be peaceful forever.

What? I feel as if I'm falling... Why? I- I'm tired. Is this deaths grip? It's tight, and pulling me farther and farther... I hear a voice...

"Goodnight."

My eyes slowly open, and as I observe my surroundings I notice a small woman with wings flying over me. A fairy? How...

Is this heaven? No, or at least I don't think so. The fairy seems to look at me as if I were a foreign object. It talks in a tiny, high voice,

"What's your name?"

What is my name? I don't remember anything... I got shot and it all left me... better come up with something,

"Jax"

She looks at me questioningly.

"That's an unusual name for an elf..."

Elf? Am I not human? I notice my ears are pointed up, and I am 7 ft tall. Wha-

"You don't even know what's going on do you?"

I shrug, still confused. She let out a quiet sigh and whispers under her breath,

"Typical"

She explains how this is the world which has come to be known as the "Afterlife", and anyone who dies in their life is reborn here as a new species. They each get a fairy to guide them.

"Wow... so it's not over. I'm guessing you're my fairy."

"Correct!"

She waves me to follow her, and flies over my head, towards a huge tree that had thousands of small lights emoting from it. As we approach, it seems to be a large city, of sorts. Thousands of people flying, and climbing from place to place. I continue to follow the fairy as she leads me into what seems to be a bar. As the bartender sees her, he jumps up, and asks,

"Liliana? Is that you? It's been forever!"

His voice is deep, coarse. She responds in a cheery voice,

"Of course! Long time no see!"

She glares at me, obviously telling me to sit. I find a seat at the gnarled bar, and wait, confused. She goes into a room behind the bar with the man, and comes out a few minutes later.

"Jax! You'll be staying here for the next few days."

Still confused, I follow the bartender who waved for me to follow him. He lead me to a small room above the bar, with a small bed, and nightstand. As he leaves, he says

"My names Hogar, call me if you need anything."

He leaves, before I could respond. I lay on the bed, and slowly notice I'm tired, as my consiousness drifts away...
