How to change a character cliché and make it realistic.
Why?
The best books are the ones with realistic characters that have realistic thoughts. For example, if you read the fault in our stars would you believe that a man wrote it? Not a teenage girl? Because Hazel sounds so Hazel right?
How?
1) observe the people around you
2) make the characters out of experience or inspiration.
3) why not make a character of someone you know in real life?
4) always try and put yourself in their shoes
5) if your book changes points of view too much then it is a bit harder so try to reduce that
