That morning, Rosemary, mostly known as Rose or Mary, woke up as usual, with a book by her bed and her white rabbit at the foot of her bed. She had adopted the poor thing when she found it in a cardboard box in the middle of road.

She'd made him a little blue waistcoat and a little pocket watch to go with it, and it turns out he'd loved it.

Rose jumped from her quilted bed and gave the rabbit a scratch behind the ear before walking out of the crowded bedroom. Once the young woman had reached her kitchen, she took her time in preparing a bowl of cereal while listening to the radio.

She gave a sigh of disbelief as the radio played the same songs as it did each morning. Taking a hair bobble from her right wrist and putting her glossy black hair up in a ponytail, she plopped down onto the heavily blanketed sofa and started eating.

Rose was in the middle of her favourite book when the house phone rang, she bookmarked the page before answering the phone and placing it between her shoulder and ear.

"Hello, Rosemary here, how may I help you?" She questioned, picking up the now empty bowl and placing it in the sink.

"Rose, it's me." A familiar voice came through the phone, causing a smile to grace Rose's features.

The voice belonged to her brown haired friend DW. It wasn't his actual name, but she'd nicknamed him it since the first time they'd met. DW was one of the only people that Rose had given her trust to since she's moved to the small town of Sunnydale in California. Somehow, he'd instantly known what she was and that seemed to make her like him even more.

Although, Rose hadn't seen her wise friend in a while as he'd been travelling the world since last July. She missed him dearly of course, but she couldn't stop him if she tried. Rose let DW carry on talking while she headed back to couch with her book and placed it back on the shelf.

"I really wish you came with me Rose, it's really boring without you here." He said, she could practically hear the pout in his voice.

Rose looked out the window and stared as snow started to fall from the sky slowly. "You know I couldn't come D, I felt like something's missing and it's right here, I can't just leave it."

She heard him chuckle as she walked back to her room and changed out of her pyjamas and into a pair of blue jeans, thick off the shoulder jumper and a pair of uggs. Rose put on her glasses and brushed her hair before picking up Mr Rabbit and making her way outside with To Kill A Mockingbird in hand and her wand in her boot.

At a young age, Rosemary never did want to use her wand in everyday life. She didn't see why she should when she had a perfectly capable pair of hands and feet to use. She resulted in only using her wand when there's an emergency.

"Listen Rose, I've got to go but we'll talk later, okay?" He stated, his breathing staggered, proving he had been running.

Rose said a quick goodbye before placing the phone on a table and sitting down on the swinging chair on the porch. It was at least 20 minutes later when she heard a shout in the distance.

"Well if it isn't little Rosie Burdock!"

Rose lifted her head to see a head of dark, curly hair coming towards her. She laughed at her friends antics, waving his hands left and right while running towards her house. Before moving to California, Rose had visited the city of London for a while, there she met her friend Holmes. Once again, it wasn't his first name yet it was his surname. Holmes was a smart guy, and his smartness led him to believe that one day he would become the greatest detective in London.

"Holmes! Long time no see old friend," she shouted back. Although Holmes and DW had never met, Rosemary was led to believe that they would be the best of friends.

As Holmes reached her house, he scooped her up into his arms and spun around. They laughed like old times as he set her back down and helping her back to her seat. "What brings you here? Were you missing me?"

"Actually, no." He stated, Rose feigned sadness and pouted at his blunt response before her mouth turned back to her usual smile. "I'm following a case that led me here! It's all so exciting!"

She shook her head at his childish look and looked at him with a raised eyebrow. He took out a notepad and pen before turning back to his old friend, "what can you tell me about Velma Valento?"

"Never heard of her, sorry Holmey."

He smiled sadly before standing up and straightening his coat. Rose smiled back at him sadly before pulling him into a quick hug, not wanting to keep him any longer. Letting him go was probably one of the hardest things she'd ever done, but she wanted him to live out his dream.

Once the tall man had left, Rose decided that she was clearly not going to get any reading done this time so abandoned her book and went back inside. The house she was living in had been built by her own two hands and she's always been proud of it. Rose looked at a picture of her, her parents and brother Sebastian before sitting down. When she moved, Rose lost all contact with her family and refused to speak with them unless they stopped trying to bring her back.

As she was reliving memories, a loud noise shook her out of her head and she jumped into action. Grabbing her wand, she slowly stalked over to the source of the loud noise. When she entered the room and saw a back facing her, she shouted the spell "Levicorpus" before watching as the body was hung upside down.

"Who. Are. You?" She asked, keeping her wand pointed at the man.

"Now this, is why I like other towns."
