We were just pups. We didn't know why we were here. We didn't enjoy being here. We didn't ask to be here. But we were. Me and my sister, Amy, were put in a large cage together. We had a food bowl and a water bowl, also a blanket laid to the side that we could sleep on. We never had been tested on. I've seen what that stuff does to animals. I don't like it either. "Why are we here?" I asked her one day. "I don't know. Maybe because we're different? Isn't that what they say?" She would say. I didn't believe her of course, but still I considered it. I was unusually large for a pup. Amy was small. I had sleek black fur, while Amy had fluffy black fur with a white stomach. I had light green eyes, while her's were light blue. The testing facility was all we knew. We didn't know what was outside. We didn't care, however. This was home, but it was more of a prison. Terrible, isn't it, to repeat the same routines each day? Until one day.

It was at night, the whole facility was quiet, all the animals were asleep. "Brother, Are you still awake?" Amy whispered softly. "Mhm" I mumbled, laying on my side upon the blanket, Amy laying beside me. "I'm sick of being here." I stood up. "Me too. We need to get out of here." She sighed, "somehow." We remained silent. After a few minutes, we spoke up. "We need a plan." Amy stood up and continued. "But we have these stupid collars that keep us from escaping." The collars prevented us from escaping the fence that was outside. Even if we were to get out the building, we wouldn't get through the fence. Many lab rats have tried. They never came back. Mother was one of them. She had tried to escape, but never came back from the outside. I wouldn't die just to get out of here. "There's no getting out of here, Amy. You know that." We laid back down. "It's worth a try, atleast." Amy muttered. I sighed, and fell back to sleep.

When I was woken up in the morning, there was a woman dressed in a white lab coat with brown hair pulled into a ponytail. She had hazelnut eyes, covered by a fine pair of glasses. She came every day to give us food and water, that's the only time we ever saw her. She put on a fake smile. "Hello, lovelies. Just checking your supplies." Me and Amy looked at each other with uncertainty. The woman walked off with our empty bowls and soon enough came back with them filled up to the top. She put them in the cage and smiled at me. "You better enjoy, tomorrow is your first day in the lab!" I stared at her in horror, and so did my sister. "Don't worry, I can't promise you it won't be painful." She sighed, "but I'm sure they'll make it fast, dearie." She patted me on the head then walked away.
