"Stability In Question"

One of my seniors always told me," Never ever fall in love.....it's a well that's way too deep". Well I don't know about me but he was the first one to oppose his own words that he spoke of. Though his words showed a subtle shine on us but it took mere seconds for us to overcome what he said and those golden words turn out to be just some casual words that one would hear in a lame talk show or one would read in a value education book. I'm talking about the infamous Sidd who is studying in the second year in our college. Though not of the more talking type, I kinda like to describe him as the adventurous and somehow I feel that his influence might create a problem for Ranu and Anirudh. His constant forcing to make Anirudh and Ranu might create a problem for all the three in their future. I tried explaining them but who listens and then I just left the bloody topic.

Sidd has already failed in many of his previous exams and I don't think he would show promising results in the upcoming exams and I think even he knows. So I guess he has agreed with this outcome and is trying to make us friends to exploit us as hell. Well that's what Anshuman told me before we stopped talking. But out of all this ungodly behavior, there is a soft side in his heart and mind that only few people see and I, yet, have to witness it.

One day Sidd and his other two musketeers, Anirudh and Ranu decided to go out for a little fun time in a not-so famous Shitong bar which was a 15 minute drive from the university at 1 in the morning and I said, "What the hell guys.....don't you find any other time to go and it's too dangerous." In my defense, clubbing and all was new to me and yeah I accept, I did sound like a sissy.

But they didn't hear anything and well, we all knew what goes on in Shitong and whoever comes out from there, leaves his senses behind and that is what happened. I and Anirudh were sleeping in our rooms and we suddenly heard the doors opening and saw Sidd coming drunk and then fall flat on the bed. And to our amazement, there was no sign of Ranu and Anirudh. Then at 4 in the morning, we receive a call from the less drunk Ranu saying that they had arrived at the college gate but Anirudh was in no position to move even an inch and walking up to the dorm was out of the question. I refused to go out in the cold so Yash and Harshit, one more annoying character in the whole charade, initiated to go and pickup the drunken couple. And there they found Urvi and Disha standing with them though Urvi was completely drunk, Disha on the other hand was successful in bringing her senses back with her from hell. With great difficulty, the two drunken masters were brought to the dorm. Anirudh in a total wasted manner, excited and screaming up to his limits feeling excited and all in all, acted like a party animal. It was difficult for us to put him to bed but on the other hand, Ranu was calm and well, acted as he usually does. He wasn't our main concern time being but Anirudh finally was laid to rest on his bed after 15 minutes of struggle, abusing and well, showing a case of heightened adrenaline.

This day will never be forgotten by me or anyone in our group. Though it was all done with goodwill and no cruel intensions, but in the end, it was I who lost my cool. It was that day when I came forward and confronted Anirudh about the act which he committed and well, wasn't very pleased with it. Well, I wasn't angry at him but whatever I said was out of love and concern as a roommate, friend and as a brother. Even Ranu realized what he had done was unforgivable. But as it is rightly said," It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks", they began their extravaganza again and well this time, they reached a new pinnacle of destruction. Their drinking habits were noticed by many of our batch mates and also the senior students of our floor. As everyone knew how Anirudh was, they didn't expect all this from Ranu. People considered him to be an awesome and calm guy, a person who people can look forward to but now, the perspective of the people began to change and that to, in a quite negative manner. Our very own friend, who was in the second year, mentioned him in comments, which were negative and disturbing, such comments which were only used for people like Sidd and told Harshit to pass on this message to Ranu.

Unaware of all this, Ranu was shocked to hear all this from Harshit and was in total lock-down. He was not himself and had put himself in a deep pit of thought.

To bring him out of this pit, I had decided to talk to the two buddies of mine but this time, it was a man-to-man talk and not a friendly one. I again tried my level best to make them understand what they're doing was wrong and to think, literally from their heads. I even explained to them about the negative influence from Sidd and would only bring their destruction and not ours. After a while or so, Ranu replied," Yes we know that this time it was our fault and went cross our heads and feel sorry what we have done and won't repeat it again". And after that statement Ranu swore never to drink again and later on asked me if he was allowed to drink beer and only beer. Well out of immense pity, I allowed him to drink beer and to drink only in special occasions.

On the other hand, Anirudh, sad to know that his drinking buddy had left him, explained to me that drinking had become a part of his life and would be difficult to let go but he sure did promise to bring down his drinking habits, a promise that I do expect from him to keep. As all of these problems were sorted out, now came the planning that me and Yash had planned for a very long time and that is, the process of shifting Sidd, not from our lives, (though we had thought about it,) but from Yash's room and also to take out the extra cupboard from my room where he kept his clothes. And thus we agreed on this decision and would take action on it in the near future.

As days passed, no one gave a crap about that guy and well abused him behind his back and also on his face. Well he turned out to be a laughing stalk among many of the Indian students and soon enough, among the Sri Lankan students as well. Later on, I even heard he turned himself into a male escort (a gigolo to be precise) just to gain extra cash. We laughed as soon as we got the news, but we knew, this was inevitable. Later on we found out that he even flunked most of his subjects and ended up failing and yeah landed in our class. The laughter was uncontrollable. Many would think I'm being insensitive but, what can i say, he deserved it.

God made us with love and devotion, he considers us as his creation, his children. Some understand this basic ideology and well, respect it to its best, but some, just take this for granted and well end up getting messed up. Why is it that some people choose this path instead of a more simplified and sorted one? Well I guess we'll get to know the answer soon enough.
