Ainsley's POV
"Ainsley! Wake up!"
A small, sticky hand gripped my shoulder and carelessly jerked it back and forth. What a nice way to be awakened.
"Ainsley!"
I can't even tell which of my brothers is trying to get me up. It's probably Ryan.
"Oh my God, I'm up! Now get out of my room!" I screamed at whoever was there. I heard them run out of the room like they had just unleashed a demonic soul. I guess when waking me up, there isn't much of a difference.
I did a throaty grunt and sat up, cracking my back. I slowly stand up and decide to at least try not to be late to school again. I take a quick shower and blow dry my dye-damaged hair. I pull on a pair of destroyed black jeans and my red A Day To Remember crewneck sweatshirt. I straighten my hair and pull my favorite gray beanie on. My iPhone then buzzes against the wood of my dresser.
You want picked up today?
It's Drew. He's come to my rescue from riding the bus. I need to get my own car.
*Yes please! Be here at 7.*
I do my normal makeup then walk downstairs. I find Blake, my 14 year old brother, sitting at the kitchen table eating Fruity Pebbles and playing the simpleminded, mainstream game of Clash of Clans on his iPad.
“C’mon Colin. You’re freaking 21 years old. You need to get a girlfriend.”
“No, I don’t. I need to focus on college. I don't want to accidentally knock her up and like somebody I know.”
I turned around to see my two older brothers coming down the stairs one after another.
My oldest brother, Colin, goes to college at the university in our city. My other older brother, Tyler, would be going to college right now, but instead he got his girlfriend, Jordan, pregnant about 4 months ago. They're both only 19, so he works overtime to save up for a stable apartment.
“What's up little sissy?" Tyler asked me as he went past me, patting my head as if I were a pet.
"Teen pregnancy rates." I joked, sending Colin and Blake into a wild fit of laughter.
"Uncalled for!" he yells, making them laugh even harder. My phone vibrated.
*I'm here, let's go*
I picked up my bag, slipped on my maroon Vans, and left with hardly a goodbye.
Drew was sitting in my driveway and I hopped into his loud car.
"Good morning Ainsley!" he said when I slammed the door behind me.
"Yeah, not really." I reply, cranking up the radio.
The car ride to school was loud and the station his radio was tuned into was having an awesome streak of amazing songs. Pretty, light grey clouds completely blocked any blue from showing through. The temperature was cool, but not cold. My favorite kind of October weather. It really was a good morning, even though I had denied it to Drew.
He soon pulled up to the oh so familiar school and we got out of his car. I saw Eli walking across the parking lot towards Drew and me.
"Happy fucking Monday." she said.
"Isn't it?" Drew replies sarcastically.
"You guys want to go get some pizza later?" I say. "Maybe go to the music store. I want to get Save Rock and Roll."
"Sure. I don't have anything going on." Eli said.
"Me neither." Drew added, opening the door of the school building. "I can drive us."
"Cool. See you guys at lunch." I say, splitting away from them.
I head in the direction of my first class, Literature. Same old routine as every day.
I took my seat in the back of the class when I arrived and began to blow my homeroom time doodling random stuff on my notebook cover.
"Is this seat taken?" A voice says.
I look up from my drawings to find an unfamiliar curly haired boy with a dark green beanie looking at me. His hand was on the seat in front of me.
"Nope. Go ahead." I sighed monotonously. He looks at me for half a second and sits down, not breaking his subtle stare. I look up at him without shifting my head.
"Yes?"
"I like your beanie." he replies. I sit up and examine him. Beanie, blue shirt, black skinny jeans, Converse. His style reminds me of Drew, but I've never seen this guy before.
"Thanks. I like yours too." I respond with a small smirk.
"I'm Harry." He smiles.
"Ainsley."
We continue our conversation about how he's a new student from New York City. We have the same taste in music, which I like, since there is barely anybody nowadays who prefers Bring Me The Horizon over Miley Cyrus. The bell rings after ten minutes for first period to begin. The door opens and slams loudly and the teacher, Mrs. Littleton, interrupted our conversation.
"Quiet down class. Free time is over." she said. "We have a new student here... Harry?" Her eyes search around the room for a moment until she locates Harry in the seat in front of me. Harry shyly raised his hand a little.
Every once in a while during class, Harry would glance back at me and grin. And I'd smile back. I wanted class to be over so I could talk to him again.
Lucky for me, time went by fast.
"Thank you for being so nice to me on my first day. I was considering just dropping out of school since I don't have much money but I think I'll stay since I have a friend." Harry says to me as we weave tthrough the packed hallway together.
"No problem at all. I enjoy your style and thought that you might be worth getting to know, and I was right." Harry looked away and flashed a cheeky smile and straightened his beanie.
"I'm really not that good at making friends." he chuckled.
"That makes two of us then. I only have a couple of friends." I say, looking at the ground.
"Really? I'd love to meet them." he says, dodging a couple of idiots who were running down the center of the hall.
"Maybe this weekend we could all hang out. You'd love them." I say. "I better go to my next class."
"Me too. See you around," he says, turning into the history hallway.
A person that actually didn't irritate me came right up to me and wanted to be friends. You don't see that every day. Or, at least I don't. I really want Drew and Eli to meet him.
Eli is going to be all over him. She always says she needs a boyfriend and goes through a new one every month, and Harry was pretty attractive. I should warn him about her.
Drew on the other hand, doesn't like making new friends very much. Eli and I are pretty much his only friends, and that seems to be enough for him. I don't know how he's going to feel about Harry. Drew is only nice to people he is friends with. I have no idea how I'm going to introduce them to each other.
first chapter! really short, sorry sorry :/
I was going to make it longer but it felt like it would've been going waayyy too fast to be a first chapter so I decided to put the rest in chapter two.
how does everybody like it?
this is an experiment story-- if nobody reads it then I'm just going to delete it
