This story was written for a U.S. History project. I haven't personally talked to anyone from the 20's nor have I read much about the 20's except the music was fantastic. So basically this story may or may not turn out nice. I hope it does...I don't know. Yet.
I braced for the chilled rain as I tightened my shawl and ran out of the cherry Chrysler Imperial. My heels clicked as they hit the road, and my brunette curls bounced under my cloche. I held onto to it as ran under the safety of the building rain cover. Through the thick wooden door you could a faint brass tint coming past it. I gave the speakeasie's knock and after a few seconds the door opened, and I pulled inside and the door closed as soon as I was in.
"Welcome to the party," the sport grinned spreading his arm out to emphasize the moment. The jazz music soared through bringing the party to life, and I was instantly sucked into the lively crowd. My friends dragged me around the club, and somehow we ended by a bar taking shots and giggling till we couldn't breath any longer. My mind went numb, and we melted back into the drunken crowd and danced to a faster, more upbeat song. I'm having the time of my life I thought dancing with a random man. Another song was ending when finally I felt like I couldn't dance anymore, and I made my towards the door. I casually exited the building so as not to draw any attention, but that option soon disappeared as my two girlfriends game giggling out throwing me to a fit with them.
Everything feels so grande tonight I thought getting into the driver's seat.
"Where to now?"I asked lighting a cigarette. I passed cigarettes around and my friend spoke up.
"Anywhere you want I suppose," she inhaled.
"Well I just so happen to know a man with fabulous wealth and an amazing house who always has parties better than what we were just at," my other spoke up.
"In that case guide us," there I said driving towards where she pointed.
We arrived at the mansion, and I gasped at the majesty of the house. Guards opened the gates for us at the site of my friend, and we drove onto the grounds. The house was light up all the way to the third floor, and the garden gleamed with excitement. Somewhere a much more partying music was being played causing me to smile. Valet parking quickened our way to the crowd, but I was interested in the food. I found the dining area to be just as filled with people eating and talking.
Rich men loitered around the room drinking liquor and talked about their mass wealth and where it came from. Others talked to not so sober flappers like us, while some looked for food like me. I got a light cheese tray and helped myself to a fine wine. Soon I was wandering around the back courtyard that sat on a river front. The lights reflected from the house and made their own dance against the water. Its magnificent I thought feeling the rain picking back up causing everyone to go back inside. I lingered outside finishing my drink and enjoying the rain. Soon it washed away the light's dance and I decided to head back in to party inside with my friends. This moment could last forever I thought.
