You woke up to the sound of your radio talking about last night’s game. You looked out the window and smiled. This wasn’t the same window you looked through everyday back at home. This wasn’t the same room that you had back at home either. Things were finally different in your life! You smiled to yourself and got out of bed. You got downstairs and saw a huge mess in the kitchen! Eggs were cracked on the floor and pancake batter and flour were all over the place! You looked and saw a very frustrated Loraine trying to extinguish a fire on the stove. She finally got it under control and turned to you. “Loraine?” you ask. “What did you do?” She looks to the ground.
“Well you see,” she started. “I wanted to make you a nice breakfast for your first morning here but, it didn’t quite work out.” She half smiles.
“You didn’t have to do this Loraine.” You laugh. “But, you can go to the store and get some breakfast supplies for me.”
“What about the mess?” she asks.
“Don’t worry. I got it.” You assured her and she got her keys and left. You grabbed a mop and started to clean up. Who knew eggs were so hard to get off floors! After you finished, you double checked every corner to make sure nothing was missing. The kitchen was finally back to its normal state!
Loraine walks in with bags in her hands. “It looks beautiful (y/n)!” she smiles. “Thank you”
"It’s no problem." you say and take the bags. "Now go take a shower and I’ll get breakfast ready." she thanks you again and goes upstairs. You look around the kitchen. You never really cooked before. But hey, you watched your mom do it all the time so you tried to do what she did. "Alright." you sigh. "Let’s give it a try."
30 MINUTES LATER…..
A small spread of eggs, bacon, pancakes and waffles was on the table. You got your phone out and texted Niall.
YOU: wanna come over? :)
NIALL: sure! be rite over! :)
The doorbell rings and you go to the door. “Loraine, breakfast is on the table!” you yell and answer the door. “Hey Niall.” you smile. “Come in.” He steps inside and smells the air. He smiles but was confused too.
"What’s that smell?" he wonders. "Can’t be Loraine cause she can only make cereal!"
"I made breakfast!" you say proudly. Loraine comes in wide eyed.
"You didn’t tell me you could cook!" she says.
"You didn’t tell me either!" Niall says still in awe over the food.
"I didn’t know I could until today." you shrug. "Now let’s eat shall we?" they nod and grab plates. After everyone was served, you all sat in the family room to talk.
"How was the game last night?" Loraine asks.
"It was amazing!" you ramble. "I haven’t been to a live game since I last saw you. It was so good to be back near a field." you sigh. "By the way Niall, are there any football teams at our school?"
"You play football too?" he asks. You nod. "What position?"
You smile. “I was right wing, midfielder. You play?”
He nods. “Center, defense. Wanna go to the field and play?” he asks. “We can use the stadium field.”
"Like right now?" you ask. He nods. "How do get in?"
"My brother Greg does the maintenance for the field so he has keys."
"OMG! That’s so cool!" you grin.
"Alright! See you in five minutes yeah?"
You nod.”Kay! See ya!” he goes and gets ready. Loraine looks at you. “What?” you ask.
"You like him!" you blush. "Are you guys dating?" you shake your head. "Why not?"
"It’s a little fast you know?" she nods. "It just takes me a while to trust new people that’s all."
"I know. I know." she says. "But, guys like this come once in a lifetime. Sometimes, you just have to take a leap of faith when it comes to this sorta stuff." you nod. "Now go get ready. You have a man to warm up to!" you get up and get ready. ( http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=93923338 ) Niall knocks on the door and you and him drive to the stadium.
AT THE STADIUM……
Niall unlocks the door and you go in. “This is soo much cooler than in the stands!” you say in awe.
"Yeah. I come here a lot to get away." he says. "Alright let’s test your "American" football skills." he says with a smirk.
"You’re on!" you say and put on your cleats. Niall takes his place as a goalie and you set the ball up. You kick the ball with speed, but he catches and slides to the side.
"Hey, I thought you were good at this game yeah?" he says teasingly.
"I’m just warming up!" you smirk. He throws the ball back to you. You kick the ball to your right, then to your left and straight into the goal box in one swift move. He looks at you shocked. "I told you. I was just warming up." You guys took turns playing offence and defense until he gets some lunch he packed for you guys out of his truck.
"So, how long have you been playing?" he asks with turkey sandwich in his mouth.
"Ever since I was four." you say. "It gave me something to keep my mind off of my parents when they were away. The more I played, the more I loved it. It’s been in my life ever since then." you look down. "Without football, my life would be nothing." you say. "How about you superstar." you tease. "How long has "Nialler the Great" been playing?"
"I was five and I wanted to play ever since I saw Greg play." he smiles. "I thought it was the coolest sport ever. My coach said I was a natural and I kept playing." he looks at you. "(y/n)?" he asks. "I don’t mean to sound rude but, what made you stop trusting people?" you look to the ground. It was time that you confided in someone.
"When I was six, I met this girl named Noelle Jones. We played on the playground and became best friends ever since. Our parents became good with each other." Niall nodded, telling you to continue. "They came over to our house for a little barbecue. Noelle and I were playing by a tree and our parents were talking. Then, out of nowhere, I saw her parents grab my parents and knocked them out." you tear up at the memory. "They told Noelle it was ‘go time’ and she threw away the dolls. She was some sort of child spy or something. I was so scared and then the woman who I thought was Mrs. Jones, took me in her arms and threw me in a van." you sob. "They took me to a warehouse and began asking me questions I didn’t know. I was there for three days with no food or water. My parents finally found me and the three criminals were arrested." you cry little tears now. "And since that day, I trusted no one." he pulls you close.
"It’s okay now (y/n) your safe here; with me." you cry harder. "Do you trust me?" you look at him. His eyes showed pure honesty. His facial expression was trusting.
Another tear falls down your cheek and you hug him. “I trust you.”
