Our Burdened Love (ON HOLD)

My First Shift

It's my 13th birthday today and I'm so excited. "I can't believe I'm going to be able to shift!" I exclaimed while bouncing around happily. I wonder what my fur will look like, I hope it's beautiful. I wonder if my eyes will change too. Right now I have long curly Auburn hair and baby blue eyes with grey specs.

My brother is 16 years old with brown hair and green eyes with brown specs. His name is Kyle Ortiz and is next in line for Alpha. My father is Alpha Ortiz or Leo Ortiz and my mother is Annalise Ortiz. I have my mother's Auburn hair and my father's eyes while my brother has my dad's hair and my mother's eyes.

Since I have Alpha blood I'm stronger and bigger than other wolves but I don't feel as strong. Since I was little I wasn't very popular. My brother was loved by everyone while I was not as loved. The people who really loved me were my brother, my parents, elders, and my two best friends, Ella and Lea.

I have always dreamed about having a mate and a loving family of my own. Right now I'm to young but in the future I wish to have my own family with a loving mate. My father thinks I'm to young and should wait until I'm 20 but I don't want to wait that long, he's just over protective.

Right now I'm getting ready for my 13th birthday party. I'm so excited! "I can't wait to shift!" I scream. I hear someone walking up the stairs, I turn around quick as the door opens. My mother is standing in the doorway with a huge smile on her face.

"Hi sweety, how are you? Are you ready to get dressed and ready for your party?" She walks over to the bed and sits down while I sit next to her with a happy smile on my face.

"Yes! I can't wait, can you help me?" She smiles even brighter and nods.

My mother hands me a beautiful baby blue dress with white flower patterns and light grey dots that go a little ways past my knees and has a low neck with small straps but big enough to cover little less then my shoulders. It's beautiful. I grab my white flats while she gets some pins to pin my hair in a nice elegant way.

I really love this dress it makes my eyes pop. "Are you ready to go down and see everyone?" She asks and I nod and walk towards the door but bump into a wall, wait this wall is warm. I step back and look up to see my brothers big grin.

He pats my head and I flinch away with a squeak. "No don't mess up my hair!" I squeal and his grin widens.

"Don't worry I won't" he says while walking out of the doorway and down the hall towards the stairs and I follow.

We walk down the stairs and stop in the living room where I am greeted by my father with a huge smile and my two best friends. "Happy birthday Effari!" they squeal and hug me in a bone crushing hug.

"Thanks guys" I giggle with a smile.

"Are you excited for your first shift?" Lea asks. My best friends are 1 year younger than me.

"Yes! I'm so excited I can't wait, thank you guys for coming" I squeal and hug them.

"Let's go outside and enjoy the party" Ella grabs me and Lea's hand and pulls us outside.

Kids are playing and running around while their parents stand a little ways away but close enough to keep an eye on them while they talk with the other parents. I walk out and be greeted by some pack members with a nod and some smiled. Like I said, I wasn't the popular one.

Music is playing and some are dancing. I walk with Ella and Lea to the grass and start dancing. They look at me with a smile and start to dance. We laugh and dance for quite sometime. My brother and father walk over to us with punch in there hands and hand them to us with a smile.

"How are you enjoying the party sweety?" My father asks while my brother looks off into the distance, I think he's scouting girls. I shake my head then look at my dad with a smile.

"It's great I love it! Thank you so much daddy" he smiles and gives me a hug. My brother looks back at me and smiles.

"The party is really great" Ella says and giggles.

"That's good I'm glad everyone is enjoying themselves" my father says then looks off into the woods.

I see him tense and his eyes gloss over, meaning he's mind linking someone. I smell a strange sent and look around

"what's that smell daddy?" I ask kinda freaked out. I remember this sent before but I can't remember where or what it was. He tenses and looks at me a flash of fear shows in his eyes but is gone quick.

"It's nothing to worry about Effari, stay close to your friends and pack members it's okay we will handle it" he says while looking at my brother.

"Oh..okay be careful daddy!" I say feeling slightly scared. My father and brother walk away while he talks to his beta named jake.

"Come on let's go get something to eat!" Lea says and starts to walk towards the table of food.

"Okay" I say while following her with Ella. While looking for something to eat I see a beautiful green and yellow butterfly and start to chase it. I chase it into the woods then stop quick when I smell that same smell I had smelt back when I was talking to father. I start getting freaked out as I see a wolf I have never met before walk out from behind a tree and look at me with fierce eyes as it growls. It starts walking towards me.

"Hello little one" he says in a deep menacing voice. I scream and start to run back towards the pack. Right then and there I knew I was in big trouble.
