0.3; phones and books pt.2

After that failed atempt Haylee wandered off looking for any good books for the project. When she couldn't find one she let out a frustrated grown and went back to see how the group did.

With each step she took, she got a strong, weird feeling in her stomach. Almost like something was eating her insides. Haylee didn't think much of it. It was most likely just the guilt she felt for not telling her best friends or for them not knowing it's her. Either way it made her feel bad. She missed hanging out with them. Cracking jokes with Riley, running off with Maya. Heck, she even missed goofing around with Auggie. She missed it all. But everything comes with a prize, right?

"Did you find any books?"

Haylee screamed and jumped in the air.

"Oh my god, Friar. Don't scare me like that."

"Sorry. You just looked like you needed to lighten up a bit."

Haylee frowned. She didn't need to lighten up. She needed to get Riley and Maya back. "For your information, I do not need to lighten up. I'm the most happiest person you could ever meet."

"Then why did you frown?"

"Because,"

"Because?"

"Just shut up."

"Make me"

"Oh, I will make you shut up." The tone in Haylee's voice told you she was not kidding. That made the Texas boy take a step back.

"Stop flirting and get to work, guys!" Maya, always the one to say what's on her mind. That was one of the things Haylee loved the most about her. And that she got Haylee on a level that Riley didn't. She missed them. She missed them too much for her liking.

"Haylee? What's going on with you today?"

"Um, I have this thing, well more like a secret, that's bugging the heck out of me"

"Talk to me. I'm here for you."

Haylee sat down at a near by table far away from everyone else. Lucas looked at her confused. She mentioned for don't even think about it to sit down. He hesitated, but did so. Haylee was nervous. Was she really going to let her heart out for a boy she had known for two days?

"Well, it all started a few years ago. I was not feeling good about myself so one day I wasn't eating lunch at school and this girl saw me and said awful things about me. I didn't really think that much of it. Not until a few years later. Um, when I moved to New York as a baby, I met Riley and Maya. We became best friends. They were my happy place." Lucas' face showed many feelings. He was confused, worried and felt sad for Haylee. It's not like not I hate you hear a story like this everyday.

"Last year, things got out of control for me. My family didn't accept me for who I was, so I needed to change or else I would get kicked out. I thought they were joking but they didn't."
