The Struggle (One direction)

Chapter 2

Kayla's P.O.V

He finally managed to pull himself up as i continued to laugh at him. "I'll push you into that water if you don't shut up." He warned me. I immediately stopped laughing. "OK sorry." I apologized. "So what are you doing up here?" he asked me curiously. "I don't know there was nothing else to do." "Oh. So are you going to tell me what was going on earlier?" he asked hopeful. "There was nothing 'going on'." I used air quotes.

"Don't lie to me Kayla i know somethings wrong." This boy knows me far too well. I sighed and turned my head away from him. "Kayla was it Josh again?" I nodded my head weakly as i felt the tears sting my eyes. A tear slid down the side of my cheek. I felt Alec's soft hands grab my chin forcing me to look at him. He wiped away the stray tear and weakly smiled at me. "Don't cry they're just a bunch of jerks." he laughed slightly. "Yeah i guess." I mumbled looking away. "I'm gonna go back to the tent. Are you gonna come back with me?" he asked. "No i'll be over shortly though.” “OK don't be too long.” I nodded as he turned to dismount the tree. I watched him as he slid down the trunk falling to the ground.

I laughed as he hit the ground. “I'm OK!” He yelled jumping up. I laughed even more. He started to walk away as i turned my attention back to the water below me. I sat back against the tree closing my eyes. I began to hum to ‘People Like Us’ by Kelly Clarkson. I opened my eyes again and looked toward where the tent was on the other side of the tent. I saw Alec, Austin, Ella and Melissa all huddled around the fire laughing. I watched as they roasted marshmallows together and goofed off. I saw a dark figure emerge from the shadows as he began to walk towards the group. I couldn't recognize him. I dont think ive ever seen him before. The light of the fire caught his face and I could see that it was a boy with curly hair. He was wearing track pants and a purple hoodie that said “Jack Wills” in white.

I know i've never seen him before. I watched as he creeped up behind Austin then grabbed his shoulders quickly. I laughed as Austin screamed like a girl. I climbed out of my spot on my tree and started to descend it. I made it to the bottom in one swift movement and started to walk towards the group. I snuck over unnoticed and hid behind a rock that was beside the water. I listened to them without them knowing.

“Oh my god Harry you scared the shit out of me!” I heard Austin screech. I covered my hand over my mouth to try to muffle my giggles. I peeked over the top of the rock and quickly ducked behind it again. “Sorry man so you going to introduce me to your friends now?” I heard a deep british accent ask. I assumed his name was Harry since thats what Austin called him. “Guys this is my cousin Harry he just moved next door.” I heard Austin say. I peeked over the rock to catch to see Harry send the group a small wave. “Harry this is Ella, Melissa and Alec.” He gestured to the three. “I don't really know where Kayla ran off to though…” He started. I popped out from behind the rock and started walked towards them. “Right here.” I smiled.

“Oh never mind. Kayla this is Harry, my cousin he just moved next door.” He informed me. “Oh cool where'd you move from?” I asked him. “England.” He smiled at me. “Thats so cool! I've always wanted to go to England!” I squealed with the biggest smile on my face. He just laughed at me and sat down on the ground beside Austin. I sat down in between Alec and Ella.

“I'll be right back i'm gonna’ go get a stick.” I broke the silence. “Erm why?” Harry looked confused. Ha city kid. “To roast a marshmallow. Duh.” I  laughed at his ‘oh’ expression as i turned to the forest. I walked towards it and started to search for the perfect roasting stick. I saw one that was further into the forest. I reached for it but my arm was too short. I stepped into the forest to try and grab it again as i saw another hand grasp on to it. I turned around to see Harry directly behind me pulling the stick out of the forest.
